I said his overall impact has been bigger. And I gave examples. There is no denying that what Dr. J accomplished set the stage for MJ & others. If you can't see that, you are totally blind. Endorsement deals were not around til Dr. J had 1. Ditto for shoe deals. And who does everyone in the NBA attribute the beginning of the slam dunk era with?

And don't give me this crap about tape delay. The NBA was not as popular back then as it is today (that is thanks to MJ). Not to mention, ESPN was not the mega-Sports conglomerate that it is today. If Dr. J played in today's game, YES PEOPLE WOULD GIVE A DAMN WHERE HE WENT!!!!!!!!!!!!

I KNOW I'M SHOUTING!!!! I LOVE TO SHOUT!!!!!

Do you honestly think that if Dr. J, at 25 years old was to have his own version of "The Decision" in 2010...people would have tuned in to the level they did for Lebron? You really think that?

Doctor J would not of had an ignorant decision show...Doctor J had 1000 times more class that Lebitch.
And 1000 times more fans would be rooting for Doctor J if he played in this era.

It kind of hurts my soul the way you downgrade Doctor J as if he was just an average NBA star..He happened to be a house hold name in an era that the NBA wasn't as popular...DOCTOR j Was so popular that he was the first of 2 NBA players to be featured in a video game.(Dr.J Vs. Bird).. You seem to forget how big the Doctor was... How do you know if Docor J would of had as many tuned in if he had a decision show...I think more people would of tuned in because he too was an elite talent.. He is the one that paved the way for great players like Lebron, or Michal Jordan who's favorite player was the Doctor......Especially in the popularity department....Shoes, commercials, toys, even mentioned in rap songs....Docotr J was a celebrity off the court like Jordan before Jordan....And before your idol Lebron

Even the most famous hip hop producer of all time Dr. Dre, made his name from Dr. J. But like I said before, it's cool for hou to criticize lebron, but if we do it. You know how it goes.

That is the difference between me and you...I can consider a player what he is at the time and be impartial, not wait until the go to the HOF and then declare them an all time great.
Well while they are competing, I'm rooting against them. So my assessment of them comes after they hang it up. While they are playing, I want my team to beat them at all costs. I'm not some wanna be talking head that has no emotional investment in the game.

I don't "stick up" for anybody...I call it like I see it.
Bullshit. You stick up for any "star" not on the Bulls, if anyone says something about them. I call Rondo a scrub and you jumped on me for it. Instead of letting me have my opinion of him, you had to come in cape flapping in the wind. Someone says something about lebron, you do the same thing. But it's cool for you to criticize lebron though.

Maybe you should try watching these guys play...Rondo is having another all star caliber year and is the best player on that team so far. And for a guy that talks about how you hate ESPN, and claim I rely on them for opinions, you have to "hear" about a guy to know whether he is having a good year or not? You should consider buying cable.
Good joke, I got satellite, cable is too expensive for not a lot of choices. DirecTV for the win.

In a one on one matchup of Lebron James vs. 1976 Doctor j in his prime , The doctor would most definately be victorious......The only thing Lebron has over Doctor J is Height and strength and not a dam thing else......The Doctors never bowed down at the end of games and Even Doctor J' dunks were better....

Doctor J was Michael Jordans "how to play basketball" education.

Why don't you start a new thread about trading Noah,Deng and Taj for DH12?

That one is getting old.

Michael Jordan never said his favorite player was Dr. J. When Jordan was inducted into the HOF by the player who he admired the most as a kid.

I love how you make shit up and then brow beat somebody else for being too young and naive. And NOBODY was a celebrity off the court on the level that Jordan was. Wasn't happening.

Matter of fact, based on his statements, Lebron is your favorite player's favorite player. Think about it.

I never said Dr. J wasn't a great player or an all time great. I did say that Lebron's fame is on a much grander scale, and that is not just because of the times, but because of his talent, which surpasses Julius Erving's talent. Dr. J was never the best player of his era, and only won a title when a better player showed up. So please lets get real about this stuff.

Then why are you "assessing" Lebron and Rondo...and I am not the only one that got on you about your assessments. Didn't you declare you were leaving the forum because people dared to criticize Bulls players and they weren't real Bulls fans? And when nobody gave a damn, you came back with your tail between your legs....

Bullshit. You stick up for any "star" not on the Bulls, if anyone says something about them. I call Rondo a scrub and you jumped on me for it. I criticize and compliment the same across the board. I have criticized any Bulls player I wanted to criticize if they deserved it. It is you that shows up and tries to correct people, and give your opinion of who a real fan is and who isn't. It is you who follows my every move on forums and have to hate on anyone's complimenting me on ANYTHING. You are the one obsessed. That is why I have asked you and others who don't like what I have to say to block me. You are the one that is out of control. Not me.

As stated before, I have said the same things before you ever showed up. I don't change for anybody. I said many of the same things about these players on bullspodcasters.com.

You are becoming a bit redundant here. People have criticized Lebron consistently and I have said nothing, because I agree and disagree. You are the one with the obsession...its very unnecessary.

Good joke, I got satellite, cable is too expensive for not a lot of choices. DirecTV for the win.

I am not changing how I feel about players in the league. I have been both critical and complimentary of James, Rose, Wade, all of them. If you don't like it, you know what to do...

Yeah, Lebron is just bigger, and stronger....and faster, and a better offensive and defensive player...but yeah, that is all.

And lol at Dr. J teaching Jordan how to play basketball. I don't think so...

I really hope no one thinks that lol..

I wasn't trying to say that Dr. J is "better" than LeBron, if it was misconstrued that way, I apologize. But if anyone is trying to make sure argument that Dr. J is some vastly inferior player to LeBron is just stupid. That's a flawed, ignorant argument. Did his numbers dip when he went to the NBA? Sure, but so did EVERYONE ELSE'S, INCLUDING OTHER PLAYERS WHO'RE IN THE HALL OF FAME. There was a huge influx of talent, it was bound to happen. The guy still fucking averaged 22 points, nearly 7 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals and 2 blocks a game, all while shooting 50% from the floor. Those numbers are pretty close to another NBA player we've been debating about.... hmmm. Oh, that's right, LeBron James's numbers. So please, quit act like some of us are comparing LeBron to fucking Pete Chillcutt or Matt Fish. It's ridiculous.

From the context of impact on the game, his (Dr. J's) contributions have had a long-lasting impact. As great as LeBron's series was against the Pistons, how many people still talk about it? Not many. I agree with you 100% that it was an awe-inspiring stretch of games that truly cemented him as a leader and even greater player. He absolutely dominated those guys to the point that the opposition should've been embarrassed. The problem is, he still hasn't taken the next step -- that series was almost 5 years ago. He still has no post game, he still doesn't move seamlessly without the ball and oh yeah, he still doesn't have any NBA Championship.

I think because of the weight of expectations placed on him at such a young age, his failures have been magnified quite a bit more. I don't think you'll find too many people who'd argue LeBron is one of the best (if not best) player in the NBA right now. The problem is don't proclaim yourself to be King James when you're merely the Prince of the team you went to because you didn't have the balls to be a true leader and win a ring as an alpha male.

Height, strength, and speed is what LeBron has over a lot of players. People confuse his great athletic ability with great basketball skill. His athletic ability hides his flaws and his lack of fundamentals that constantly get over looked.

This is what I say about him, but of course I'm wrong.

I said that lebron was coasting on his athleticism and not improving his game overall. Yeah he can put up numbers, but that and a dollar won't get you a cup of tea in England. I'm glad you said it though.

Because it is wrong! You don't just run an offense and improve defensively as he has based on athletic ability. You have to learn something and work on your game.

How lame.

Ill never bow before hou...

AND YES, LIKE I SAID, JULIUS ERVING IS BETTER THAN LEBRON....
I DIDN'T STUTTER....And like I said, Michael Jordan has sayed out his own mouth that Julius Erving was one of his biggest basketball influences......only ones who had more of an influence was His brother, and family and coaches..
And on another note, MJ has said out his own mouth that the first time he stepped on the court with The Doctor, he was nervous and wanted his autograph.....Google it your dam self.
