Gould but I would rather we give out long term contracts, easier on the cap.

Why?

Dude has dropped so many hints that he isnt really interested in breaking the bank. Actually he has flat out said on his show that he has plenty of money already and is more interested in winning at this point.

They don't owe him a thing (and he's one of my two favorite players). He's been paid millions of dollars for his excellent play. Giving out loyal/sentimental contracts to players based on what they've done in the past is a good way to not get to the championship level you want.

Is Jay Cutler your other favorite?

And either way, Peanut's last contract was fat as hell. We are not talking about a guy coming of a crappy rookie contract here.

That's true, but he also said his agent advised him to stop talking like that.

The tag gives everyone an extra year and an extra draft. If it works sign him, if not well he's gone as a FA so no worries.

The Bears will not be 3-4. Emery practically said it straight up the other day. The personnel overhaul required would make it pointless.

This means nothing, the fans will make it so.

This is the one argument I don't get.

This offseason we are losing a shit ton of players and likely cutting even more to save cap space, and the ones we got now aren't proving to be worth a damn.

So wouldn't next season then be the PERFECT time to switch to a 3-4, if he were so inclined?

I mean, any way you look at it, you're going to have to overhaul this defense anyway - so why limit yourself to what you are willing to play?

That's why I wouldn't write it off.

On contract of starters you have Paea, Briggs, Shea, Conte, and Bostic... Those are the only D set starters I believe who are on the books. It's far from out of the question of they think transitioning from the current mold is fond, with Tucker or without. They may just say they'll look into more hybrid schemes since it seems they're realizing standing Shea is wiser.

Yeah, I'm just going by what Emery said the other day, but I agree with you. FWIW, of the current players on the roster, you have a potentially good LB shell for a 3-4 already with Wootton - Bostic - Briggs/Greene - Shea. It's the line that will need the overhaul.

As has been stated numerous times, the Bears could run a one gap 3-4 without a single change in personnel if they so wished.

Now way TJ is tagged, he is not worth that much per year. Dude with his size and age will prob command a 3 year 14-16mill deal. I really don't see anyone who is worth the franchise tag next year. I think Jay should get a 4 or 5 year deal.

tough call.

guys a ball hawk...hence his nickname.

If he maintains his current INT rate, I think you almost HAVE to tag him or re-sign him to a big deal.

I lean toward tag, because we need to take care of Peanut first. He should retire a Bear. And the added bonus of re-signing Tillman....once he slows down in a few years like Woodson did...you move him over to safety!

Man, I should be running this club!

I think you should run for congress instead...

I think the tag will be Cutler, unless they work out a long term deal -- and if they do, it'll be Gould.

Jennings is going to be expensive, as he should be. As fans of the Bears we've had it pretty good.

Peanut with 15 Forced fumbles, 8 INT's and 5 TD's!! That's f*ckin wild!
