Hawks.

A full season where the number 1 goalie is not in question.

Expecting large rebound years from Kane and Keith.

Seabrook continues to improve, especially offensively and on the powerplay.

Numerous off season signings that aim to fill the actual needs of the team - toughness and penalty kill- while adding some veteran leadership that should supposedly be welcome in the lockerroom.

Healthy Hossa? It would make a pretty large difference if it happens.

Johnny Toews.

Way to bring something to the table.

If you are going to mock or shootdown someone's post...why don't you actually give good reasons and show some thought behind it. Otherwise you just look like a jackass.

I don't see Boston repeating and I also don't see the Canucks getting back to the Finals. I don't think the Hawks will get back to the Finals this year, but they've got a shot. I think the Sharks will come out of the West and the Lightning out of the East. I'll take the Lightning as my sleeper and Stanley Cup champion.

I need to know Roberto Luongo's and Patrick Kane's range factors before I can make up my mind.

Sharks look good, but I just won't pick them again on principle. Had them last year to win the cup over Boston and they totally shit the bed against Vancouver in the western finals.

Havlat, Handzus and Burns are sweet additions, but I still don't trust Joey T to captain a cup winner. He's clearly gotten better and tougher in the playoffs and he was obviously injured in last year's west finals, but the Sharks massive game 4 collapse has to fall at least partially on the captain. They didn't just lose their composure, they went completely off the rails and looked like they didn't belong at all. Taking bad frustration penalties (Eager!) and a confident Canucks power play really did them in. It doesn't help that Niemi had a shitty series either. In 2010, Niemi absolutely stole the Western finals. In 11, he did nothing to help his team win it.

I wouldn't be surprised to see the Sharks take the west, but I can't with any decency pick them to do it.

Blackhawks :homer:

No, seriously, the Hawks.

Good goaltender, most of the forwards have improved, actually have a fourth line, 6 good defensemen.

Seems like a good chance to win.

The Bruins probably won't repeat, but have a chance. All they lost was Recchi and Marchand and Seguin are a year older now. Both goalies are good. If Timmy Thomas plays like he did in the playoffs, they're a good pick.

Vancouver won't win. Last year was their chance. They'll go downhill from here, but will probably still win their division and have a good record.

The Caps have a good chance. As long as Ovi can bounce back and they actually play there game instead of trying to be too defensive like they did last year. With Vokoun in net, they should be better.

The Kings are a good pick also. They added some good players and kept key players. They have a good goaltender and will probably win their division.

The Sharks and Wings are always a small threat to win and that probably won't change this year.

Forgot about the Lightning. They also have a chance as long as they can find a solid goaltender. I'm not sure if Rolli will be able to make it through the season.

Really? right, I am a jackass for thinking that the hawks wont win the cup...and since you must know why......there are better teams out there in the NHL than the hawks. If you want to sip the kool aid and go with all the "fire and passion" "grindy physical players" crap, by all means go for it.....just dont be disappointed when they dont win the cup. now if you will excuse me, i need to go beat off to trading cards of the guys who are going to put the hawks over the top (brunette, carcillo, odonnell, montador, mayers etc ) dope.

Did I say I had an issue with you disagreeing that the Blackhawks would win the cup? I definitely didn't. I simply have an issue with how you do it, by belittling the other person and by making jackass/smartass comments about their post. Instead, try bringing reasons and an educated opinion to the table...I'm sure you know how to. Sure the Blackhawks have a chance to win the cup but obviously the odds are against them. Try reading the whole post before you freak out...or do you make it a pattern of doing things partially and then quitting when you realize there is no better way to save your ass??

I think each Conference has a few teams that are legitimate Stanley Cup Contenders.

Western Conference - Chicago, Detroit, San Jose, and Vancouver are four of those teams in the West for me. I think the Ducks and Kings are solid teams and can make some noise, but not a Stanley Cup contender for me. Out of these four teams I like Chicago and San Jose.

Eastern Conference - Boston, Buffalo, Pittsburgh, and Washington are four of those teams in the East for me. I also like the Lightning but I don't think they are contenders this year. Of these four teams I like Pittsburgh and Washington.

Really hard for me to narrow it down in the West (I mean of course I like the Hawks, I want to remain unbiased but stay optimistic), but in the East I like Pittsburgh overall. They have great depth up the middle, solid defense, improved wingers, and I think Crosby will be good to go for the rest of the year when he comes back.

I'm really thinking that it will be the Caps. With the addition of Vokoun they are a lot better.

And there's that whole thing about the year after playing in the WC, one of the teams wins.
