Seems all the expert analysts all have us winning the Central for the most part (and ESPN Magazine's simulations even has us as the #1 seed), not that that means anything, but why do you guys think Detroit is so much better than us (Dews and Joe)?

Don't trust anything ESPN says about hockey. Even though the Hawks were on the cover of ESPN The Magazine before the season of the year they won the cup...

Still, ESPN Hockey coverage is :turrible:

IK, I just picked up ESPN the Magazine and saw that, but most sites/publications have us winning the Central.

I think the winner comes from the East again.

The West is brutal and the beatings they'll suffer will better accommodate whoever out of the East wins.

Thinking Detroit is better than us is not unreasonable. They have great talent, leadership, depth, and the climate/presence to do what it takes to win.

Ultimately though, it's all about who finishes in the postseason.

That's the thing about the East. The West is a better conference, but that means that the winner of the West is usually pretty beat up by time of the Finals.

Ya, but they seem to think they are much better than us than I can see them being.

The one big thing really going Detroit's way is that we play 3 games in 4 nights 17 times, them only 6, if we overcome that we are equal if not better than them.

I'm not saying Detroit isn't better than us, but I think we have a pretty good chance and was wondering why you guys were seeming to be very negative about the Hawks chances, like overdoing it.

no, I just dont have them as major players for the cup. As you state one thing about my thoughts, I can comeback with the over optimistic fan base on this site and their opinions.

Remember Andrew Brunette will be amazing because he's here.

I detect the sarcasm...who has said that?

I think most are just expecting Brunette to do what he has pretty much done his whole entire career. Put up around 50+ points and be in the lineup night in and night out. Not unrealistic in the slightest.
