What The ****.
One of the few that ALWAYS gives me goosebumps.I was wondering how a Led Zeppelin thread lasted so long...it stopped being about Led Zeppelin.
Speaking of great guitarists...how high do you rank Slash?
I have been recently revisiting GnR and kind of forgot how fantastic they were when they burst on the scene in the late 80s. Axl still steals the show, but Slash was really inventive for what was billed as just another "Sunset Strip" rock band early on.
Sure it was played into oblivion, but Slash is kind of amazing on this track:
The Yardbirds are mentioned on there a bunch as well, so maybe it’s just a Jimmy Page thing....Everyone in Blues and rock owes Willie Dixon money, but somehow it was only Led Zeppelin that ever covered a blues song...

I think Slash is a great guitarist in his own right. I like his playing now more than the early guns albums. The “ popular” songs on appetite don’t sit well with me. Mr. Brownstone, Night Train, and You’re Crazy are more to what I prefer. Still a great album. I love his playing in Velvet Revolver more.I was wondering how a Led Zeppelin thread lasted so long...it stopped being about Led Zeppelin.

Too early for you to be drunk on your assBasically, Guns'N'Roses were the far superior American version of the Rolling Stones.
Oh does this thread need a rename??????????
Sorry to blabber on @ijustposthere but i miss that escape too and haven’ been able to recapture that state of mind lately. That said, if you ever find yourself in lap steel or slide territory, may I suggest:
While the stones were never fans of Led, it was Led that loved the Stones music
" After Keith was arrested for heroin in Toronto in 1977, I read a Jimmy Page interview at the time where Jimmy commented on Keef's arrest saying something like: "Just listen to 'Dance Little Sister,' & you can forgive that guy for anything."
