Why Can't The Bears Just Draft a QB and Get the Same Production out of a Rookie QB as they'd potentially get from Wentz?

The Bears are not going anywhere significant with a rookie QB

The idiots here think they're going to get 2017 Wentz

Makes sense to bank on a guy being what he was 4 years and not 6 months ago.

Doesn't even have to be 2017 Carson Wentz.

Could be 2018 Carson Wentz - 3-1 TD-to-INT, 102.2 passer rating

Or 2019 Carson Wentz - 4-to-1 TD-to-INT, 4,000+ yards

Then again, could be 2020 Carson Wentz - 16 TDs, 15 INTs - 72 passer rating.

Why get caught up on 2017? It's not like the guy's only had one good year. He threw for 4,000 yards **after** tearing his ACL.

ding ding ding.

Took till post 17 but this guy gets it.

Pace/nagy are fighting for their jobs this season.

I agree, but I'd argue that if a rookie QB plays well in 2021, that also saves Pace and Nagy's jobs, even if the Bears lose.

You know George is looking for any reason to keep Pace. Search your Bears heart, you know it to be true.

But they aren’t just fighting for their jobs for just one year. Pace can’t go about business like he will be here for only 1 more year he has to make sure the team is ready for the future as well. Giving away a bunch of draft picks only puts more pressure on Pace and Nagy for that matter

I don’t agree. They should be expected to be 9-8 or better at the very least to keep their jobs. In my opinion
Plus they will have to beat the packers at least once next year.

You have a higher opinion of George McCaskey than me, then. I don't think there's any way he wants any part of another GM search.

I forget who said it but some national nfl analysts said if wentz were a draftable commodity this year, he’d go #2

It’s inevitable though and another non winning season and he is going to have to do just that and let the GM pick a new coach.

That comment makes no sense. Whoever said that, shouldn’t be a analyst.

People are obsessed over this “must win now if they’re fired” idea. An idea that NO ONE in the Bears organization has even hinted at, BTW.

The front office was contemplating what to do with Pace/Nagy this offseason. They have not been extended (that we know of). So yes, it’s safe to assume they are on a very hot seat.
