Why did Ryan Poles and Ben Johnson draft two slot receivers with the first two picks?

This is a fair argument but it fails to consider who we had as HC and OC last year. Look at the season Kmet had. That staff didn't know how to use a TE properly. Ben does. If Johnson had been here , I believe Bowers would have beeen a Bear.

Waldron was awful, for sure. Part of the reason I wanted them to fire Flus was because I thought he wouldn't be able to hire a good OC as a likely lame duck coach. I wanted a new HC and GM aligned on what to do with picks 1 & 9. Maybe they go the exact same picks wise, maybe they don't. I just didn't want an obvious lame duck coach in position to influence the next QB decision since they weren't likely to be around longterm. I'd have rather let a new set of eyes make the decisions given the two season in-game failures under Flus. Never thought he was a long term answer.
