After last season's debacle, I would rather not see the Sox trying to make a big move by trading aways guys that are just starting to turn things around. I think Beckham is finally blossoming and will be an allstar in the years to come. Other than Paulie, Alexi is the heart and soul of this young team and it would be a mistake to move him now unless someone really offers a killer deal. I think fans should be paitent and enjoy whats happening with this team, instead of possibly messing up their chemistry by putting everyone on edge about getting traded.

Actually I'm ok with getting rid of Dunn, he's old and won't be here in the long run. If he's gone that means more at bats for one of the young players to keep developing like Semien, Nieto, even Leury Garcia. If they could get pitching or a young left handed hitter for Dunn I would do it.

How about we get rid off Dunn?

id much rather resign him as he will come a lot cheaper this time around. he gets on base, we need as much of that as possible. we are also short on lhd hitters

Beckham always does this to us. He has a good month or two and will be hitting .300 but then he will revert back to being Beckham. Hitting .150-.220. Trade him while has value.

Exactly right!! I can't believe how easily some Sox fans forget this. Trade his ass while he's hot, and maybe we can secure an above marginal prospect, wait a couple months and we will end up with a player to be named.

I do not trade Alexi. No way. He is really having an MVP type season. And certainly merits a starting all-star short-stop award. He won't get it because
they will vote for some guy from New York:) But Alexi is the best short-stop in the AL right now.

I would trade Beckham, though. The Sox are loaded with 2nd basemen who can play and are much cheaper. Get a first rate Starting pitcher or a
first rate closer please.

We won't be serious contenders for at least 2 to 3 years, which in the alternate world called REALITY, Alexi will be about 40 years old.

Dunn was traded to the Sox. The Sox lost a LOT of quality pitching over recent years in trades and free agency. These pitchers were never realistically never
replaced with quality guys. I am not debating the worth of any of the trades. I'm just talking the bottom line. They lost pitching and need to get
some.

Dunn signed a 4 year, 56 million dollar free agent deal with the Sox on 12/02/2010.

Ramirez has averaged about 3.0 fWAR as season since 2010. Ramirez fields well, etc.

Ramirez would probably grab a decent return.

Beckham, as stated in post 2, is slowly starting to become an MLB calibre player. Beckham was playing well before his injury, so he's getting a second chance. If they play well, they will move him. There are players in the minors waiting (Johnson, Sanchez, Semien, etc).

I think both are moved at some point.

I still stand by this.

I understand that players in the minors are gambles, but FWIW here are how some the kids in AAA Charlotte are doing:

2B: Carlos Sanchez: 300/367/423 (790) - 122 wRC+. Seems to have adopted well to AAA pitching from last season. Higher BABIP, but higher BB%
SS: Tyler Saladino: 297/354/470 (824) - 130 wRC+. Higher BABIP, bur more closer to his career norms.

Not to mention our old pal Marcus Semien, but Semien needs to be in AAA getting playing time.

I loved our MI duo more than anyone on here I believe. I think the time is now to trade the pair. We could use a catcher, one OF, a RH SP, and two dominant relievers. Ramirez and Beckham should net a couple of those "needs."

Alexi has huge trade value due to the career season he's have so far. You trade him for the pitching depth the Sox desperately need to make the playoffs.

You trade Beckham for whatever you can get because he's not worth the money. He's a barely average fielder and below average at the plate. Get rid of him and bring up some scrubs who can play defense and let them fight for the position.

Trading Ramirez basically means no playoffs as the offense is in greater need. Not sure he brings alot since he's owed $25+ million dollars over the next 2.5 years.

Gordon is having a below average year at 2b defensively and an above average offensive season. I think his fielding improves to the all star level he's shown inthe past but am unsure about the bat. I would think he could bring something in as he is affordable

Trade Beckham and keep Alexi. You do not trade all-star caliber short-stops in my estimation. The Sox are not far off from being good enough to contend. The other guy to trade away is Dunn. The Sox have a kid who is going to be a huge difference maker for the team in Micah Johnson. Beckham is not a difference maker and his value will never be higher. Trade him and look to the future. This team needs pitching. Use Dunn and Beckham to get some. I'd also go after that former ND pitcher on the North Side. He'd be a good #2 or #3 guy in their rotation.

I think that they will contend next year if they can trade for a pitcher or two and the prospects that they have come up. I'd still like that ND guy from the CUbs to be traded to them.

Then trade him to a contender, get something back for him, and then try to bring him back in free agency. Its happened before.
