I understand it's something she's probably insecure about, but I mean, it's just a joke from a comedian. You get roasted, it might feel bad for a bit, but then the comedian roasts the next person and everyone forgets about it. Really don't see how he at all felt justified in walking up and slapping him.

eh...shit happens. Don't think it's a big deal. What may be just a joke to someone is something else to someone else. Looked like Will laughed at the joke first and maybe Jada wasn't happy about it, so Will decided to defend his wife. I'd have handled it backstage with Chris Rock, but I grew up learning that if you say some shit, you should always be ready to fight. His wife is probably very sensitive about her hair issues, so Will decided to handle it.

It's the Oscars. People in the audience are sometimes the butt of jokes. And nobody in the history of the event has ever been such an asshole they responded with violence until last night. The fact people defend that is insane.

Yes, if Will Smith thought it was over the line, he could have take it up with Rock offstage.

But Will Smith's real issues are with his crazy wife who has publicly humiliated him, and he thought he would look like a man "defending her", when in fact he laughed at the joke and only responded when she gave him "the look". He wasn't defending her honor. He was trying to save face for himself.

It's interesting reading social media reactions. Matt Forte and Jaylon Johnson have both publicly stated that it was OK. I guess maybe they shouldn't sit in the audience when a comedian is on stage.

Jemele Hill predictably is torn because she evaluates literally everything based on skin color and cannot bring herself to criticize a black man no matter what he did - even to anther black man. Had either person involved been white, she'd have an easy choice.

Pretty light joke to choose to get offended over. The smack didn't cause much harm. Smith comes out looking the lesser one in this.

Jada suffers from Alopecia so shaves her head due to the disease. What Will did was over the top but I can understand him not liking a joke made about his wife's affliction. Only insecure men judge another's relationship choices. I find it funny that males are threaten when Jada gets a hall pass but don't think twice about Will getting those as well.

To be clear, I'm not in agreement with what Will did.

IMHO Will Smith was really embarrassing last night. Don't get me wrong, the joke was a bit much for the Oscars....more of a celebrity roast style joke. Not sure how that got through.

When Rock told the joke, they showed Will Smith and his wife in the audience.. Will was laughing at it, but the wife was pretty annoyed.
I suspect that when Will saw that Jada was annoyed, he figured he had to do something or forfeit pussy for the next month.
