I just fired up the dvr and watched "selected portions" of the game at home. Two things caught my attention...visually, the game looked really good, it's amazing how NBC and Comcast are the same company, but the games on CSN are so shitty compared to any other network. The other thing is that the game should be in 5.1 surround, but wasn't. In the immortal words of Jerry Lundegaard..."what the christ"!!

NBC is really odd. Some sports have full blown surround audio, and others, namely hockey, don't always. I don't get it.

Sent from my giant phone using only my thumbs and occasionally my Johnson.

Jerry Lundegaard: I told ya. We haven't had any vehicles go missing.
Marge Gunderson: Okay! But are ya sure? 'Cause I mean, how do you know? Do you do a count, or what kind of a routine do you have here?
Jerry Lundegaard: [growing uncomfortable with this questioning] Ma'am, I answered your question!
Marge Gunderson: [long pause] I'm sorry, sir?
Jerry Lundegaard: Ma'am, I answered your question! I answered the darned... I'm cooperatin' here!
Marge Gunderson: Sir, you have no call to get snippy with me! I'm just doing my job here.
Jerry Lundegaard: I'm... I'm not arguing here! I'm cooperating. So there's no need to... we're doin' all we can here.
Marge Gunderson: Sir, could I talk to Mr. Gustafson?
[Jerry gives her a glassy-eyed look, knowing full well that Gustafson is dead]
Marge Gunderson: Mr. Lundegaard?

He's fleeing the interview!!!

I like Versteeg, but he needs to quit trying to dangle so much and get the puck on net, or pass it.

Agreed. He's been playing better this season, but he has to remember that he's not Patrick Kane.

Steeg is in the top 10% of players statistically. Base his contract on his level of play and he is a steal. His performance outweighs the turnovers...... his hands are a close second to Kane. His awareness is the suspect..... But dude tunnels in during the 3rd

You mean his hand. The other is probably broken after that game.

Anyone have any idea why Saad still had to serve the penalty after Brouwer scored? Can't remember if there was any explanation to that.

Wasn't it a delayed penalty call for the slashing that broke the stick of Ovechkin?

Yes. But on a delayed penalty, if the opposing team scores the penalty is negated.

However, the Caps were already on the PP... a delayed penalty will still be a two minute power play regardless if a goal is scored or not.

Yeah so the original penalty which had maybe 20 secs left had the Hawks at 5 on 4.... then the slashing and you now have a 2 min delayed penalty on top of it which would have allowed the Caps to pull their goalie and go 6 on 4 if they had control of the puck.... but Brouwer scores and wipes the original penalty off the board but the 2 min delayed penalty still exists and thus the Hawks start on another 5 on 4 PK after the goal by Brouwer.

I think that about sums it up
