I'm not saying there needs to be a reason for it. I routinely used to convert text to paths and make slight changes to fonts, adjust kerning, whatever, simply to make them slightly different (when I was in the business of making logos). I get it. Maybe you're right, coulda been simply that...I was just illustrating what was "off" for the purposes of clarity.

It very well could have been hand drawn the first time and that's why it's off....but it stuck. If someone wants to take the time to make one symmetrical, and another that is round, we'll probably see that they look quite boring compared to the current logo.

Are the Cubs and Reds logos boring, that's what you'd be basically drawing. Existing logos on professional sports.

Big difference between a booger and a tattoo that sort of did not like right to you, something that many would not even noticed. He was happy and you ruined it for him, not the right call on this one.

I have to disagree. Being heavily tattooed, I've gotten critiques from all types. I have a mispelled tattoo. If you can't handle criticism, make sure you've got it right. The thing about logos is they are precise. They are not guesstimated. The McDonalds Golden Arches are always the exact shape no matter what scale. When you or your tattoo artist don't do a simple search on a logo, you open the door for some bullshit. I never ruined his tattoo either. His artist did. Like I said, he was upset that he never noticed the unbalanced "C" not about his dinged pride.

On a separate note. What type of friendships do you have that you can't be honest with your buddies? What type of friend would lie to your face?

Thanks for ruining your buddy's feelings about his tattoo. :) Who really tells a buddy that just got a new tattoo that something does not look right? Some things are left better unsaid. IMO

For real. That's exactly what I said.

You do have a point man. I just would have waited 2 weeks after he got it. You know, let his excitement flow through instead of bringing his excitement straight down right after getting it. That's what I would have done though.

Yeah, but it took how long to figure out that the C was not right? Seems like it was hard to determine, it was just something did not look right. Again, HUGE difference between a misspelled word versus something that most people would not even notice unless they sit there staring at it and pondering about it.

re- separate note: lie to someone's face? Get real, that is not would have been the case if you kept it to yourself. LIke I said, he would have been much better off not knowing and enjoying his tattoo, something that you took away from him.

I don't buy blaming it on the tattoo artist. they are both at fault. Did the guy show him the C or just assume that he was a football fan and knew how the C looked? It's up to the customer to make sure he makes it clear to the artist in how he wants it too look.

Meh. I understand where you're going and I think we just have different opinions on what's right. Bad tattoos are everywhere. The only way to get them to stop is to start pointing out where artists fucked them up. Really, my buddy should have gone back to the shop and got some money back and the artist should suffer the humiliation from his co-workers for not checking his design. I own a tree company. Much like a tattoo artist my work is permanent. One wrong cut and I could disfigure a clients tree. Knowing that, I study and take my time and make sure everything is as close to perfect as I can make it. Professionals, in every field, need to be held accountable. There a growing trend where clientele aren't getting the quality of craft they are paying for and deserving of. People need to speak up or it won't ever stop.

Sorry, that turned into a rant.

David Beckham probably doesn't want to be like any of those things. Maybe a skank.

Halas got thirty percent off the uniforms because of a symmetry error and it just kind of stuck?

I agree and disagree. What separates quality people from regular people, imo, is attention to detail! A great tattoo artist would have been on the ball and asked questions about the logo, and had everything understood before making a move. Let's face it, there are so many posers in the working world today that take shortcuts, and are lazy, in every industry.

However, if I was going to have someone permanently scar my body on purpose, I WOULD MOST DEFINITELY MAKE SURE THAT IT WAS UNDERSTOOD WHAT I WAS GETTING!!! As crappy as the artist may have been, if at all, for lack of attention to detail, the blame falls on anyone getting a tat and NOT making sure it was right, or what they wanted!
