Once again, I gotta question Collin's managing. 111 pitches in the biggest game of the year? Maybe you send him out there for the 9th but after the walk, he has to go get him.

I love their style of play. I have mentioned this here before but I grew up in St. Louis in the 80's and have seen first hand what contact speed and defense can do for a team

Hardly. They are just kids...better contact will come. 4 or 5 rookies in every game last year....I don't think Royals played any rookie position players on a regular basis.

All these kids need is some time....and our patience.

So your point is that veteran players won't be good for the young Cubs lineup?

The Mets didn't play as well as in NLCS and the Royals bats made contact more often than the Cubs.

Congrats Royals.

That was delicious...not because the Mets beat the Cubs, this doesn't get the Cubs a ring. I literally think I just became annoyed by the Mets pitcher nickname system

"Batman" emerges from thje dugout, the crowd goes wild, he runs out there and thinks he's about to be a real life hero and be the talk of all the sports the next day and then he completely blows it and the Mets lose.

Of all the crazy Royals' numbers, this might be the best: KC scored 40 runs this postseason 8th inning/later, no other team had more than 5

That's insane

When it's your year, it's your year. Questionable Collins managing aside....no one was beating this Royal team. I loved the way they took extra bases when needed. Can you imagine how badly they would have abused Lester on the base paths?

I think Lester should just start throwing a one-hopper to Rizzo when only one runner is on first base. There isn't a whole lot of slowing the ball down, and it is better than throwing it over Rizzo's head.

A one-hopper, Rizzo can keep in front of him and also keep the runners closer.

I know Ozzie smith patented the one-hopper to first base. Granted, it was usually on artificial turf, but with the way grounds keepers groom the grass, there isn't a whole lot of difference IMO.

Just a crazy thought. :)

Maybe he should just work on a move to first.....I mean any kind of a move....even a bad one. I don't think I've ever seen a pitcher of his ability be so pathetic at holding runners. I was never a big Boston Red Sox guy but you'd think that you would hear something about that. I never did, I was shocked by it.

I am his biggest backer, but if he doesn't work on this every day of ghe offseason, he should be smacked. No excuse. None. Throw a hundred times a daybto first. See a shrink. Whatever. But for $25 million a year, get it fixed!

Reminds me of the old Steve Sax syndrome. Or Rick Ankiel, or what was the reliever's name from the Braves that has escaped my mind? :)

Chuck Knoblauch, too. Funny that guys who won gold gloves suddenly couldn't throw to first. Weird

But I din't need a guy in that group. Fix it, Jon
