In speaking to a director of college scouting from a NFC team that is in the market for a new quarterback, they outlined the makeup concerns with Wilson:

"Johnny Manziel comp without the [drugs]. [Wilson] is fun to watch, but is he a 1-year flash in the pan? He's a backyard baller who is fun to watch.

"Someone will grab him in the first. I doubt he gets to the second, because once the third quarterback goes after Lawrence and Fields, there will be a run on them. [Wilson] has character concern, rich kid who is an entitled brat -uncle owns Jet Blue -, parents are a pain, not a leader, selfish, and he's a know-it-all.

First I've heard of him having character concerns. Hard to say whether they are valid or not, but yeah, I'd be skeptical of taking a guy that high who feels entitled. Then again, Baker Mayfield went #1 overall with all kinds of character issues, and he doesn't look like a bust anymore.

Especially when people are willing to trade up to get him. He doesn’t seem to me to be a quarterback worth trading up for in this draft.

Sounds like Jimmy Mac.
Mac was a pretty good football player. A quarterback he was average. Loved his personality and willingness to get dirty.

backyard baller without the drug problems...

so, Favre?

That doesn't scare me.

Johnny Football failed because he couldn't stop partying. If you take the party out of Johnny Football IMHO he's still in the league.

Great way to try and drive people away from him before the draft, oh wow, we have no idea how he fell to us at 20 but thankful he did, great job Pace!

Nope.

What should scare you off is character concerns regarding not taking the game seriously. Not studying film or partying. Those don't seem to be issues for him. So what if he grew up well off? Does he work hard on his craft or not?

The other teams drafting before us should read this article and pass up on drafting him. Yep, no need for them to take a risk on such a wild card.

I love scouting reports that point to literally nothing as a weakness. I can't believe people employ these types of people. I'd make it clear from day 1 that anyone who provides a scouting report must cite actual strengths or weaknesses.

That rumor has been out there for a while.

Probably not a huge deal, but definitely makes the interviews that much more important.

If those things are determined to be true (know it all, poor leadership, etc) I wouldn’t want the Bears to get him. Give me a slightly lesser prospect in Lance if he’s willing to be a Russell-Wilson like student of the game and leader.

No Combine this year so the Bears will need to have a private workout with him in order to get an idea.

Some of that description reads like a guy that has no problem assuming the role of a leader, because he is confident enough to believe that he is "entitled" to it.

What the Fuc# does his parents have to do with his ability to play football in the NFL

"Selfish" seems like it does not translate to the Field. I watched a couple of games and he was asked to rely on the run game and it did not seem to be an issue, he celebrated with his team mates when someone scored a rushing TD....?

Maybe there is something to it, but if the worse thing he has going is that some scout said he was a "rich entitled brat" that is the coaches responsibility to keep him in check. The Bears have needed a talented, confident QB for decades now, so deal with a primidone

Zach Wilson's pro day might be one of the most anticipated of any player in the draft.

"someone will grab him in the first, doubt he makes it to the second"

if that guy is my scout; i'd be looking for new scouts.......he's probably employed by pace with a lifetime contract.......i'm hoping my scouts can provide much more accurate analysis/projection for a guy who in all likelihood is a top 10 (maybe top 5 , maybe top 2 pick).

Super talented with character issues? Seems like a John Dorsey pick, who now works for the Lions, who pick 4th I believe.

Wilson to the Lions sounds like a lock.
