Would you do the Cutler trade for Watson?

If the Bears selected Watson at 1.2 (or even held pat at 1.3 and drafted him) people would still be in uproar that the Bears passed on Mahomes. The fact that he is an object of such desire among Bears fans* is entirely born out of the fact that the Bears don't have him. He's good but he's got major issues and we'd all be arguing over whether Watson was the long-term answer at quarterback to this day.

He's lucky he went to Houston, I'll say that much.

*though personally I think the vast majority of this pining for Watson comes from the media looking for narratives to push

"Chicago sent two first-round picks, a third-round pick, and Kyle Orton to the Broncos for its new franchise QB. "

No, b/c I do not trust the asshat calling plays and our offensive line is just as offensive as Houston's.

No. When his extension kicks in it's a cap- and team-killer for his talent level (good but not Mahomes)

Houston has made some terrible moves but players aren't slaves if they don't want to play for a team they can refuse. They aren't slaves.

Ummmmmmmm that's a little aggressive don't ya think? My goodness.

Nobody said anything about anyone being slaves. Now can you please show me where Watson has asked out of Houston?

Nope. Losing that much draft capital sets the franchise back years.

No, we're just fine going another 70 years until the Bears get a franchise qb, thanks.

I think Watson would have been better here in 2018 and 2019......this year, I would not want him unless he came with personal protection

The texans cant pass protect for the life of them. It would be a flawless transition.

No, organization needs to learn how to draft and build an offense on its own! Won’t win Super Bowl if constantly taking someone else’s picks

And sending their own picks off non-fucking stop for just one player in return.

We

Can't

Keep

Trading

1st

Round

Picks

Say it with me now.

No, I think he's good but not worth his contract + 2 first rounders good.

With this oline, WR group(you wouldn't re-sign arob) and run game, he would not be as much of an upgrade as we would hope.

It would essentially be just like trading for cutler....lol

What I noticed about Watson is he takes way too long to abandon the pocket. The clock in his head not good. Then he has to perform magic to get loose from pass rushers in all directions. He would also have an extremely hard time functioning in this "offense" .

you build in the trenches. if the Bears had even a passable offensive line it wouldn't look this bad. I'm sure there's a correlation behind why they've fielded like 10 guys in the last 7 years all with roughly the same results... with Cutler and McCown at the top of the list. sorry haters. LOL

No, only chance Bears have to fix the OL in the next 3 years if that they use at least one of those 1st round picks on an OT that actually pans out. They probably need 2 first round OTs or get very lucky with a 2nd-3rd round guy hitting the Jimmy Butler development lottery. Trading for Watson without the OL or right weapons gets you the 2020 Texans offense, not the 2019 one.
