LOL, Chicago fans constantly obsess about the backup. Fales sucks. If he were any good, he'd have seen the field by now.

LOL. If he were any good, he wouldn't be behind Jimmy Claussen on the depth chart.

he might suck, but maybe he could be a solid backup. youll never know if you dont pkay him. especially considering fox admitted to not really knowing anything about him since he missed the entire off season.

He was a rookie with a tweaked shoulder last year and had 2 weeks of camp this year. There's good reasons he's not yet the backup besides not being good enough. He may not be good, we don't know, but he also hasn't been in a position to get that shot.

The Fales obsession on this board has become borderline psychotic. He won't amount to anything in the NFL.

Maybe but why not take a look since he's on the roster. We will still need a backup next year and Clausen doesn't look all that viable. I personally like the way Fales controls the line and makes his progressions. Whether that will work against ones is another question but there's only one way to answer it. I get the practice stuff but some guys do better in practice and others when the lights go on. At some point we need to see what we got and it's not like we're sacrificing much by not playing Clausen. It could also be that his arm is not fully back yet. He had set back in camp but I suspect he's 100%.

It's no different than next guy in when Vereen fails. Jimmy Fails or David Fales.

I don't see many if any Fales over Cutler posts so it's hardly an obsession. There's just no good reason to not take a look. I'd love to see him try and kick Carr's ass again.

What I'm saying is, I don't even think he's a viable backup.

I get it but there's no body of work to show that. With the Raiders pass rush, Bushrod out, Ducasse fucking up and Long still learning, we may get to see him regardless.

A weak armed QB with shoulder problems. Sounds like a recipe for greatness.

You're certainly entitles to your opinion of Manning.

I'm obviously joking. Arm strength and his size are the things we need to see how he manages. Lots of great QBs with rather weak arms. Knowing where to throw it on time > getting it there faster. There's a reason he's a 6th round pick and that's it. Same reason Montana was a 3rd round pick. Chad Pennington went sooner due to his size but he's no stronger. I'm not saying Fales is those guys, just that it's not inconceivable for him to be serviceable or more, given the opportunity.

Thats a good possibility. I dont think there are many who think he is going to be good. I certainly dont, but i would rather see him fail then roll with Clausen personally. Thank god Cutler is back so we dont need to worry about it. Well, atleast not till Cutler goes out again.

I get the anti anybody but the starter mantra gets old but in this case, we really don't have anything to lose unless Jay comes back.

Clausen has not been more interesting or exciting. In his case, absence has made my heart grow fonder.
