I was actually kind of surprised that he was allowed to stay on the sidelines for as long as he was. In the past I've seen that mean an immediate ejection.

It’s worth noting that Bengals linebacker Vontaze Burfict was ejected from a game for contact with an official last season. Interestingly, not only was Burfict not suspended, he also wasn’t fined. I’d expect a fine for Hicks, for sure, and we’ll have to see if the NFL also forces him to sit out. Sometimes the NFL considers time out of the game from an ejection and doesn’t levy a suspension. Hicks could of course appeal. Lynch lost his appeal last season.
