THE CHICAGO BEAR OFFENSE vs THE NATIONAL FOOTBALL LEAGUE
Two games into the season and Chicago's defense is looking solid. In the second half of both of their games this season, the only points they have allowed is a single field goal...from 53 yards out. It's safe to say they are doing their jobs. Chicago's special teams have looked solid with a rookie punter looking every bit one of the best in the NFL already. They scored Chicago's first touchdown of the 2024 season off a blocked punt and getting decent returns out of players not named Velus. Cario Santos perfect on the season, including from over 50 yards as well. It's safe to say they are doing their jobs. Chicago's offense has done little to nothing right. The run game is nonexistent. The offense line looks like they have never seen a stunt in their lives. The entire offense looks like they have never seen a blitz package in all their lives. The rookie quarterback is making lots of rookie quarterback mistakes. Throws, catches and assignments are all being missed. Playcalling is already highly suspect. It's just about as bad an offense as a franchise known for its bad offenses can be. Don't look at your humble narrator for answers. Fixing the run game would be a good start and the Colts are currently giving up more rushing yards per game than they have since 1978, so if there ever was a time to run the ball, Sunday seems like it. Can this offense look like it belongs in the NFL or is this another football season in Chicago that is over before it started?
