I cant believe its 16-20 hours before firsy pitch and there still isnt a confirmed time for the game tomm

I read 2 versions of thr start time IF tor wins tonight (130 or 307 pst).....but 307 pst means the la-ny game will start 2 hours and 23 mins after cubs cards on same network (tbs)??

Why are they so worried about games overlapping????

TV ratings.

Cubs have pounded Wacha this year. I believe that trend will continue at home tomorrow.

The real question is, who will start Game 4? Both Hammel and Haren don't seem very appealing.

If Cubs win tomorrow, do you think they think about possibly bringing Lester back on short rest for Game 4?

You would have plenty of time to get the Arrieta/Lester combo lined up for the NLCS if you win in 4.
Is Haren even on the playoff roster? W # 2 starts at 5:07 PM, CT.

I'm guessing if the Cubs win tomorrow, they come back with a mix n match of low end starters/bullpen guys in game 4....if they lose, they'll probably pitch Lester on short rest in game 4. But with Maddon, nothing is a given.

Some notes for today's game:

- Wacha has a 6.86 ERA against the Cubs this season, Arrieta's is 2.42
- of the regulars only Heyward has hit Arrieta well (.333) over a decent sample size while Castro and Rizzo have hit Wacha very well (.455 each) with Soler also hitting him well over a small sample size. Schwarber has never faced him.
- the wind is supposed to blowing out at Wrigley at a decent clip at game time. With Arrieta not allowing much hard contact and the Cubs having more power to begin with this looks like an advantage. It also looks good for Rizzo who sees the ball well agáinst Wacha and Kris Bryant who could use an advantage to break out.
- Maddon has surprised before but you have to figure this will be the usual lineup in the infield with Soler in RF and Schwarber in LF right? Or does he go Jackson in LF because Schwarber has never faced him before? Also it wouldn't shock me to see David Ross at C instead of Montero who has hit quite poorly (.133) against Wacha in a decent sample síze. Maddon might just want Ross' arm to prevent runners from trying to steal on Arrieta. Considering Ross won't hit either that may be overthinking it.

I think Rizzo, Castro and maybe Soler will be the keys tonight with Bryant finally breaking out of his slump. I think they should work the count on Wacha early as opposed to swinging aggressively. The hits will come, especially as his pitch count increases. Arrieta needs to be himself. Hopefully the wildness of Wednesday night is a thíng of the past.

I agree with this but kind of a different reasoning. I want very much for our top of the order to see as many pitches possible. I would guess after Wacha being shelled by us in the regular season. They are going to go with a totally different game plan. I would like to see the game plan against our hitters early. That means seeing what he is offering and what side of the plate he is going to work.

I think you are over thinking the Ross thing. Montero is way more dangerous than Ross at all times. Arrieta is slow to home. Ross isn't going to counteract that much. Interesting though, the Cubs placed TeaGarden on the 40 man. I guess they are just covering all angles if someone gets hurt.

I am going to say that the Arrieta streak ends today. He gives up a run. :)

Solid reasoning. I'm with you there.

Yeah, I don't expect it and I don't want to see it, I just said it wouldn't shock me. Very little shocks me from Maddon anymore.

I just remember game 1 in the second inning watching a Cardinal make it to 2nd base and start dancing like he was at a Bee-Gee's concert.

Perhaps inning two of the first game is a bit too early to be show-boating and celebrating?

No surprises here but maybe some interesting choices in the order. Soler bats 2nd, Schwarber 6th and Arrieta 9th.

Not their best defensive lineup with Soler and Schwarber both out there but he's staying with the philosophy of trying to get a lead and substitute later for defense. I can't argue with that.
