Just announced
Lackey starting tomorrow

Gotta make him throw a bunch of pitches in first and score a few
I was hoping we would start Lester and end it at Wrigley since Lester has a history of success against the Cards and Hammel hasn't been good the last couple of months. Maybe he will be on tomorrow.

Man these thread are getting weird. I miss april when everyone thought the team was terrible and most people got along.

We have a team that may advance in playoffs before anyone expected they could, and if they do, they will knock out the Cards. And unfortunstely, instead of celebrating that, some douchebags look to find fights.

Why?

Conventional wisdom is you don't start a guy on short rest when up.

Start Lester on short rest in Game 4, and you have Hendricks on short rest in Game 5. A rested Hammel at home with Lester on normal rest if necessary in Game 5 is the only way to go.

Cardinals are hundred win team, you get a chance to knock them out you do what you have to to knock them . I feel more comfortable with Lester on the mound at Wrigley then having to go back to St Louis. Specially when the Cubs are better hitting the ball at home.

Agreed TL. If Lester threw only 85 pitches (like Lackey did) then I could see it but Jon threw 120. He pitched well but threw a lot more than Lackey did.

Hammel will be good for four to six innings. Depending on how he throws we can hopefully get enough out of him to keep us in the game. After that who knows. I'm not sure what St. Louis has left as far as relievers go but they have to be worried about how far Lackey can pitch tomorrow. He was dominant but just like Arrieta today that can change game to game.

Tonight was critical. We can hopfully take tomorrows game and then be ready with our two best pitchers when either the Mets or Dodgers come to town.

Have to wonder if Maddon and Lester are sitting in Maddon's office right now talking about pitching on short rest.

That's wrong.

You don't gamble everything on Game 4 when up 2-1.

You play percentages. Their so-called ace on short rest, and if you lose-which we will not- we have Lester vs TBA.

I don't think this goes back to Busch, and even if it does, we have as good a chance as they do.

Pitching Lackey on short rest will backfire, Cubs will get to him in the 4th :snoop: #calledit

Lackey's era is almost twice as high on the road vs home--his strikeouts decrease by nearly 10% with his walks up 5%. Cubs have to do a better job working the pitch count against him. Wind will be blowing about 10mph out to Left Field/3rd base line

He did go 7IP with 0 ER against us at Wrigley on July 6th

That so called ace held us in check in game one. We hardly hit it pass 2nd base even. What we have going is this time we are at home, though 2 or 3 runs probably aren't gonna win us the game. We are gonna need to put up runs kind like we did tonight. I think we can. I'm hoping at least.

You don't pitch Lester because we are up in the series and you don't pitch him because if we clinch. You are looking at going game 1 Lester and game 2 Arrieta next series. They also would be able to pitch in 4 games. This isn't putting the cart before the horse. This is playing strategy. The goal is to win it all. Not just the divisional series.

I think the wildcard in the game tomorrow will be Molina. He did an outstanding job framing pitches for Lackey in the first game. About 1/3 of the strikes called were way off the plate. With his thumb the way it is I am not sure he will be behind the plate tomorrow.

If that is the case then look to see more walks. Lackey can't get that lucky a second game in a row.

But we do have to win THIS series before we can worry about the LCS. But yeah, let's try Hammel and yank him during any trouble and hope our pen and offense keep it up.

Cardinals were down 2-1 in 2011 to the Phillies, 2012 to the Nationals, 2013 to the Pirates ans won all 3 NLDS series. Cubs need to finish them in Wrigley. Step on their fucking throats.

That's because Grimson was BANNED from the Cubs forum at the time. Since he's come back, all hell has broken loose.

I really don't understand why CCS allows these DBags to ruin the MB like they do??? You guys wonder why I'm the way that I am? It's cuz guys like this follow me around here and talk about stupid shit like fog machines and basement parties while bringing nothing intelligent to the MB.

These one liner DBags are everything wrong with the internet, imo. Him, HHM, and the rest of the high School clickettes should all be shipped out, imo, and this place would actually be pretty cool. I would'nt be surprised if they are all the same guy, actually.

What a pathetic little life these guys must lead.

No team has ever hit 6. This was the first time. You witnessed history if you were watching the game tonight.

I believe it's also the 1st time a team has hit 5 from 5 different players. The Cubs are not just for real, they're setting records as they do it!
