Won't be as easy for Lackey with out Cuzzi and Molina. Hammels just needs to get us to 5 and the bullpen will take it from there. Yes it hurts losing Russell but Baez got the jitters out last night and should be ready to roll.

Wrigley will be nuts tonight if we take them out.

Good post and I agree, except the broadcast team was correct about the throw from Baez. He was just nervous, IMHO.

Im not sure about the nerves. Maybe, but Baez would make plays like that in the minors. It was why he would make so many errors. He would make terrific plays then botch the easy ones. Kind of like Castro. He has a strong arm and he relies on it a little to much sometimes.

Russell was being checked out on the field this morning so he isn't out yet.

Eh, Ill buy in. Cubs first team in post season history with 6 home runs. Best part was it was 1-6 in the batting order. Also, Soler is the first player in history to reach base his first 9 times up in the post season. Cant take those history making moment away.

Previous Cubs best was Hack Wilson in 1929 reaching base 7 straight times.

Assuming Russell isn't good to go tomorrow, wouldn't surprise me if the Cubs went Castro at SS and Coghlan at 2B to keep Soler's bat in the lineup.
NO,no no. Your totally weakening your defense up the middle and Castro is an overall better ball player when manning 2B. If Russell can't go then Baez will be fine after his initial post game yips yesterday.

I agree Parade. There are 3 things in the Cubs favor, imo. First, the Cubs were flat out not ready to play in game 1, imo. They learned their lesson....moving on. 2nd, Lackey's short rest could backfire for the reasons you state. 3rd, the Ump definitely hurt the Cubs ability to watch pitches, whether for both teams or not. Cubs gonna jump on Lackey this time, imo.
Finally there will be a different ump behind the plate.

I didn't see him messing with the lineup after last night. Baez is the only switch and the pitcher moving to eight. Tons of power in the lineup with the wind blowing out to dead center. This lineup needs to just get the ball into the wind.

I saw a lot of speculation about Coghlan in RF but IMO it would be the height of insanity to remove the guy who has recorded NO OUTS in the series so far. I think Soler is going to reward the confidence again.

I didn't get a chance to see the throw itself, I was listening on the radio. They made it seem like he got too nonchalant about the throw

It wasn't a simple play but he just kind of flung it over to first when he could have planted and gunned.

he did look non-chalant, he just thought it was an easy throw. As Linkin Park would say though, in the end it doesnt even matter
