Wasn't a very pretty game and again with the dumb penalties. Props to the Hawks for dominating the third period, considering it's their third game in four nights. They really looked for that win and got it in OT, adding to that important ROW bracket. The third line looked great again, alwaya causing havoc in the opposite end. Kane and Hoss ended their mini-slumps, but I'd like to see the big guns get some more success and take the load off the secondary scoring.

The streak continues.

I would agree except for the historical averages, it's been 5 years since a PC team won the Cup.

More important I think is the team being unable to hold onto an impossible pace (as this will prove to be) and not being able to recover in time to get back onto the same kind of win percentage for the playoffs.

Only one team wins the Presidents trophy... 16 teams make the playoffs. Either way you look at it, it's a 1/16 chance of winning as long as you make it.

I did the percentages last year and even though everyone brings up this "myth" the Presidents trophy winner (or maybe it was the conference winners?) has a better percentage of winning the Cup than any other spot in the standings in the last 15-20 years or so. Either way, consider the fact that the last few Presidents winners were notorious chokers in the playoffs (San Jose, Vancouver) and have never won a Cup in their entire histories.

I don't think you can lump this team with those teams.

IMO, I will always feel like they play better away...the record may be close, but they are more metally sound away, then at home where I feel like they take their foot off the petal since they know the crowd is behind them. Call me crazy but I do see a difference in them away and at home.

Crazy.

If anything the Hawks have had more memorable games at home than they have away. Think about it.

I don't know... there were a lot of pretty plays out there (sometimes too pretty). I gotta say I enjoy watching these Oilers. I was pretty entertained that game. Gotta say Toews had a rough night as he is allowed to. Our blueline is playing balls to the walls. How great was Oduya tonight despite a bad penalty in the 3rd? That guys making a lot of you dinks eat crow isn't he? Kane was fun to watch tonight also. Stalbergs goal was a nother example of players on this team not quitting. Love the berg and again he could have had a multiple goal night...boy oh boy can that guy back check!! Again UNDER-RATED defensive forward.

My only concern is Q better not start this crazy line juggling like he did tonight for all games. Seems since Carcillo came back the last 2 games hes been a little trigger happy mixing the lines a bit too much. I understand mixing it a bit esp in a 3rd game in 4 nights but he got a bit too trigger happy tonight. Paid off though so Q knows best.

Can you imagine trying to defend the Toews, Hossa, Saad line? No fucking thanks. And how bout that Hoss!!!

It's so sweet when all four lines are capable of cycling and having long possessions in the offensive end. Gotta love it.

If LA gets their game going like their last 30 minutes tonight we'll have our hands full.

Would be an interesting western series. They made tonight's Oilers look like a B team.

Agreed, in the post game interview he explained it as any line with Saad on it is going to a dangerous one, but that doesn't make any sense to me. Our fourth line has been great all year, and Carcillo skating with Toews and Hossa does not compute. Guy lost a few board battles, seemed baffled at the blue line entry with those two and does not have the half offensive sense Saad does. Carcillo floating around the dots and slot area does nothing for me, not with man child sitting on the fourth line. Flame me and say what you will, but I cannot shake the image of Carbomb being one of the biggest hacks in the league, his 5.8 million penalty minutes in 324 career games would fit in well with Columbus.

It seems no matter what the team is doing, if we've won our previous 47, line juggling will occur if we don't have the lead. You can argue it has worked since we haven't lost, but it hasn't produced any goals. Not going to complain about him juggling up 2 lines, as much as I want to, there is no reason to complain sitting where we are.

Carbomb looked lost with them last night.

I figured Q was punishing Saad for the two bad penalties. Otherwise, I have no clue why he put Carbomb on the first line. Toews, Hoss, Saad line were getting quality chances ever shift.
