Hey, is anyone from the Chicago area going to Nashville for the game vs. the Preds on the 24th? If not, any tips on the cheapest/bestest way to get there, where to stay, etc?
The problem with Nashville is the airport... Its out in the middle of BFE and the taxis are about the same rate as going to Midway or O'Hare. And for the record, no bus or train service currently serves the Nashville Airport.
As for airlines, I'd fly out of Midway on Southwest, since they fly direct there at times. American gave me problems out of Nashville with delays to the core to the point where I almost had to call off work the next day.
As for the hotels, they're all pricey by the Bridgestone, so I can't really give you a really good one. The Hilton, Renaissance, and Courtyard are all within walking distance, however.
Transit there in Nashville is not the best. I'd honestly say that Bridgestone Arena one of the worst venues to get to in the NHL. I'm actually grateful I had representatives from the arena take me around the city, LOL.
As a result, expect to pay taxi rates everywhere there, but the city is definitely worth to visit at least once.
