Just got back from Boston, attended the game which was a huge disappointment, and extended the stay to hit a few night spots and restaurants. There was a decent Hawks contingent throughout the TD Garden. The Jumbotron is not properly used. They spend 90% focus on the fans and the replays suck. Few replays are shown except for goals and they don't show them until after play resumes. Really fucked up. In time outs they display the Bruins greatest hits of the past season, and Bruins fights in which they won handily and work the crowd into a frenzy. I was surprised they restrained from showing the Chara hit. I was also surprised that some Bruins fans were giving me shit. My favorite response was to come back when they won the Stanley Cup.
As for the game , it wasn't even close. Bruins came out in the first period and took it to the Hawks. The Bruins sat back in the 3rd. The Hawks did not screen Thomas at all, the random lines were mind boggling, and Brian Campbell is gun shy . BC just gets rid of the puck in his end when he sees a hit coming resulting in a lot of turnovers. John Scott was dressed and skating in the pregame warmup and I was shocked when he did not come out for the game. We knew someone mouthed off to Thornton but did not see who.
Wednesday we went up to a Brewery in Gloucester and stopped at a Duncan Doughnuts for coffee and a guy seeing me in my Hawks leather told me I should meet the cop in the next parking lot because he was a rabid Hawks fan. I thought it was a setup but the guy was a big fan...his opening line to me was " I saw you at the game last night, you were in loge 7 " Turns out he was sitting rather close.
Anyway the Rock Porter was a sensational Brew and worth the drive to the Gloucester Fishermans Pub and Brewery.
