Geze guys don't bash the kid.. Give him a shot.

Wilken picked Carpenter and Halladay in Toronto.. So he's pretty decent in finding pitchers.

I can't blame Hendry for draft picks.. I can blame the lack of acquiring supplemental picks for losing Type A, B free agents. He's gotta try.

Actually recently we have had really good luck.

Cashner, Jackson, Russell, Rhee, McNutt, Searle, Chen, Dolis, Cales, Diamond, Parker, Latham, Leverton etc. All lot of it is in the lower levels right now but the recent pitching picks at least look promising.

Hell even Samardzija seems to have found himself down at Iowa right now.

yeah i was going to mention that, casher and Jackson, two guys that alot of cubs fans talk about now and days, hopefully we can continue that trend and have some good pitchers down in the farm.

I added a few more to the previous post. The farm is deep pitching wise. Most of it is just AA and below right now. I'm more worried at our lack of power hitters in the minors. We have lots of solid guys but no real power prospects.

yeah, ive seen in different articles saying that even vitters has had some power outages in the minors, hopefully he can pick it up because we do need some power in the near future.

there also have been talks maybe he can play first when he gets called up, since d lee isnt getting any younger, and 1st base is a position that alot of power hitter play there.

Simpson throws up to 97 mph, has a Four-seam Fastball, a Circle Changeup, a Slider, and a 12-6 Curveball. He's been compared to both Tim Lincecum and Roy Oswalt. He's a 6ft righty.

The only reason you haven't heard of him is that he played in Division II.

The only problem is, he would or probably been there when the Cubs pick 65th overall.

Don't be surprised if the Angels take someone that doesn't appear to fit their needs and seems more logical if they were the Cubs...

That would be an indication of a trade for DLee in the midst...

We may have 1 more first round pick than we think ;)
You can't trade draftees this year...

Probably :rolling:

LOL. Way to misrepresent that......

They said his delivery is compared to Oswalt and Lincecum. Not his stuff/talent.

The pick is odd because it's a reach but the kid has 4 good pitches and should be interesting to see how he does.

I'm still laughing at the dude who said he's been compared to Oswalt and Lincecum lmao

His ceiling is basically a mid-rotation starter or an average closer. Honestly, this was not a good pick at all. Wimmers or Cox would have been a better pick.

According to Wilken, he would of not been there at 65th of what he has been hearing.
