I didn't like their 2nd Rnd pick at all. Seems like too much of a boom or bust type.

Right now yes but he is only 18 turing 19, And could mature and change to be way better. Just give him time.

Obviously but I'd prefer to take someone who wasn't so raw this high up in the draft, especially after an underwhelming pick in the 1st round.

Yeah but Wilken has done great for years so I w9n't doubt him yet. But Maybe Gibbs will trun out to be great like Keith Law thinks he could be.

Yeah I'll give Wilkins the benefit of the doubt especially on Simpson, given Wilkins recent success selecting pitchers.

C'mon guys...left the kids pan out before we write their careers down...

Bobby Brownlie was a highly respected pick....what did he do?

Carlos Marmol was a hardly respected catcher....what did he do?

Moral: let the players mature and we'll get there when we get there...

Harvey was the only sure bet in this draft...

I am not saying anything, I am saying get them a chance because they are still young. And have yearr to mature and get stronger.

Whoever we draft, people won't be happy. I'm not thrilled with this draft thus far but Wilkins has done a great job improving the system, so I'm willing to let him work some magic.

I think we'll see Simpson dominate every level of the minor leagues over the next couple of years then head to the big club to start the type of career Randy Wells hinted at last season. A hunch helped by this article on him from last year. And his stats this past season were just as good or better.

The Mini-Strasburg? : Baseball Daily Digest

Given that the Cubs count pitching as a strength in the minor leagues and bats not so much you know Wilken must have seen something really special in Simpson. Especially when a player like Zack Cox was still available and chances are good that all 3 Cubs infield spots except SS will be there for the taking over the next year or two. I bet you could hear people in the Cardinals draft room laughing when they selected that kid.

Odds are they are laughing more because they actually get supplemental picks and we refuse to under Hendry.
