He's just looked awful. Saw it first hand when the Jets were in town... he takes long, lazy shifts and just coasts around, waiting to play offense.

We all know that he shouldn't be playing defense. A lot of people around the league said he shouldn't play D either, but he got off to a hot offensive start last year and his goal total shut everyone up. Being down in Atlanta really helped him slip under the radar. Nobody was really paying attention to the Thrashers... you'd see a box score and Buff would be on there with a goal and a helper and that's enough to make you say he's being successful.

Make him a forward again and play him on the point for powerplays. Seems simple.

Noooo way. Maybe if they go on to lose the next 15 out of 20, but even then... he's too good to let go because of an early season losing streak.

The way Detroit plays (the way they are coached) is every bit as responsible for their success as the actual talent they put on the ice. Their whole game that consists of controlling the puck and playing in the other teams zone is a product of coaching.

It just so happens now that they don't have the talent that they've had in years past. Of course it doesn't help that their top tier guys aren't producing (I don't think anyone on the team has more than 2 goals) and they don't really have the depth that they've been known for. You can't find diamonds late in the draft every year. Rafalski leaving was big too.

Good thing is they still have a bunch of cap space and will have even more next year after Lidstrom is gone. Picking up Shea Weber and whoever else will keep them in fine shape.

Nicely said. Babcock is regarded as one of the best coaches in the NHL for a reason. I don't think this is the year where we see Detroit struggle, especially not as much as they have the last few games. They are still a playoff team even though a few treads are starting to come off the tires.

In terms of Weber, he is still a RFA at the end of this year and I wouldn't be surprised to see the Preds take him to arbitration again where they have to accept the arbitrator's decision no matter what.

Kaleta is a lucky man, that was seriously dirty and 4 games is not near enough punishment. 4 games is hardly enough deterrent to stop him doing it again.

That is a weird fucking play. I'm watching that video thinking... "yeah that's a penalty, but a suspension?"

And then it turns out he's done it 3 times! Pretty hilarious that he has a history of doing the same, ridiculous move.

I don't think I've ever seen anyone do that before. Good suspension.
