I think the hawks are playing it smart right now...once suter and carle sign, hammer becomes the best defenseman available...maybe we can get a 2nd line center out of someone....Sam Gagner maybe?

A Hammer for Gagner trade just makes so much sense for both teams.

The Oilers have some amazing young top talent at forward in RNH, Eberle, Hall and now Nail...they obviously need some Defense and Hammer would help out and still be a young guy for years to come.

Gagner will most likely be available but his contract would have to be sorted out ahead of time.

If we sign him, he can still afford Suter theoretically if we move Hammer/Bolland. Jaeckel (LOL) says that Suter realizes the Hawks can't outbid other teams but came back to us when Suter and his family decided the geography was more important than a few million dollars.

Wouldn't make much sense as the Blackhawks would have to shed just a little cap space (unless they do so with a follow up trade of Hammer, Frolik, Montador). Trading Kane for a goalie such as Miller/Price wouldn't help out the cap situation if Parise were to come here.
