Has Underwood officially signed? I know he was at Wrigley recently and a lot of speculation is that he was close to signing. I just don't recall if we got official word on that yet.

It's not official but just about everything thinks he's signed. I couldn't find any press releases. What's Google say?

Underwood has not officially signed that we know of, but I think he has under the table (meaning there's a verball agreement or no one has repoted it yet).

I think this was reported already...

7/3 Cubs sign 3rd round pick

The Cubs have signed 18 of their first 20 picks, and 27 players overall selected in the 2012 First-Year Player Draft, including right-handed pitcher Ryan McNeil of Nipomo (Calif.) High School, who was selected in the third round.

In addition to McNeil, the list of new Cubs signees includes right-handed pitcher Trey Lang (sixth round), right-handed pitcher Justin Amlung (12th round) and infielder David Bote (18th round).

McNeil, 18, logged a 1.10 ERA and held the opposition to a .175 batting average last season for Nipomo High School. He struck out 94 hitters in 57 1/3 innings pitched, good for an average of 14.76 strikeouts per nine innings, while walking just 21 hitters. The 6-foot-3, 210-pound McNeil hit .392 with four doubles, a triple, two home runs and 18 RBIs.

According to Callis, Almora has signed for 3.9 million. That is pretty much all of the underslot money and amount we can go over without forfeiting draft picks. Looks like this is it for the draft.

That's about what I calculated in another thread but I'm too lazy to find that post.

According to Brett at BleacherNation, Callis has said that leaves the Cubs 22K left before giving up draft picks. So basically they are done.

Like the looks of the draft at this point. Of course we won't know for 3-5 years to know for certain. Kind of disapppointed that guys like Tomscha, Wiseman, and Hickman aren't going to be signed, but they got the guys they needed to sign signed.

I think it was a pretty good draft overall. Don't really care for the new bonus limits, but the owners are trying to find a way to increase their profits. It's a predecessor to a payroll cap, undoubtedly... which I have mixed feelings on. Would have been better if the holdouts signed, but that was an unlikely venture to begin with. Glad we managed to get Almora, but honestly, would have been almost as satisfied with not getting him and having two top 7 picks next year (and a greater bonus pool due to it).
