Hawks would now face the Blues in the first round if the standings from today remain. This also means that the Hawks can't get home ice any more.

That wasn't a clean hit. Maybe in the assbackwards 80s NHL that's considered "clean".

Who fucking cares! Those fucking pussies just sat there and watched, and didn't even lay ONE FINGER on him afterwards. Clean hit or dirty hit, you need to send a message to a potential first round opponent that IF YOU TOUCH OUR PLAYERS WE WILL **** YOU UP! Instead, they just curtsied, bent over and took it, and sent a message that we are little princesses and you can manhandle us any time you wish.

He kept his shoulder and elbow tucked into the body. Did not go out of his way to make the hit and Oshie moved into him as well. Nuttin' dirty 'bout it.

Exactly... didn't know shoulders to the chest while keeping your skates on the ice was considered dirty.

I sure hope the NHL agrees or this sport is just going to keep getting worse.

I think it was a clean hit. Oshie could see him coming in plenty of time. The league agrees as well. The hit will not be reviewed.

Check out the Hawks/Pens thread for the same posts when Orpik hit Toews.

Hey Trev, member the last time Toews got hit really hard to where he had to leave the game? A high hard hit? There was no scrum, no fight, the play didn't even stop. In fact there were no penalties the entire rest of the game. Hawks simply went on playing their game and would win that game. And the next game they won the Stanley Cup.

This idea, with both teams, that after an entire goddamn season, that now at the end of it, right before the playoffs, them not "responding" shows that they now all of a sudden don't "care" or they don't play together or whatever the hell godawful cliched saying you want to use, is completely irrational. Whether they respond to your liking or not, the other team will do what they want. Nothing is stopping them.

lmao, I'm not going to go down this route again. It's just not something you let happen. I also remember when Mitchell decked Toews coming out of the box on a suicide pass and everyone made a bee-line for Mitchell.

Also, you can't compare a 2-2 SC finals series to a regular season game. Had they jumped the Bruin, they could of given them a power play that would of helped them go up 3 games to 2. Different scenarios...

You also don't understand the sense of camaraderie and brotherhood mentality a team gets in a hockey season. All for one and one for all is the concept built around hockey teams and the thought other teams perceive when you lay out the other teams best player (and captain) with no response usually says "We'll allow it to happen and take it". Doesn't help confidence and swagger.

I must obviously not know what I'm talking about as after the pens game with the hit on Toews, it wasn't like the team started going after guys for borderline hits the games after /sarcasm.

Didn't seem to affect them in either case. Went on to win the next 4 games in a row after that "non-response", they didn't fall to pieces. I'm sorry Trev, no matter how much more you say you know, it's ridiculous when people say stupid shit like "oh teams will be doing that all the time now, NOW they know!" Like they've haven't been trying that for years now, and failing a shit ton more than succeeding. Or saying because of that one "failure", no matter what they did over the entire season, or their entire careers for that matter, now we have a "reasonable doubt" that their chances in playoffs are drastically cut down. Because of one stupid idea. Knee jerk overreactions over pointless bullshit seem to be a calling card among a lot of hockey fans.

http://Mike Rupp suspended for 4 games for T.J. Oshie hit

Rupp .... 4 game suspension for the hit on Oshie. A lot of WRONG opinions here !!! Comparing the Orpik JT hit with the Oshie hit, I still say the Orpik hit on JT was dirty and should have been a suspension. Orpik lined him up and launched into Toews, a split second after the hit he was in the air(left his feet) but the way its explained as I understand, its ok if the hitters feet are in contact with the ice during the hit.

Looked like Rupp made contact with Oshie's head. I didn't read why he was suspended yet, but that's what I'm guessing.

I don't know how anyone can call that a clean hit in today's NHL.

All Rupp had to do was lower his shoulder, but nope, he explodes upwards into the hit, targeting the head as the principal point of contact, and gets a well-deserved suspension. Let the idiot sit a few games. It's not a secret, these hits are illegal. It's up to the DPS to handle things like this consistently, and not just whenever they want to enforce the rule. That's the problem that throws everyone off.

Yeah pretty much. It'll be interesting to see what happens with DPS now that Shanahan was hired by the Leafs. It was a promising start when he took over that job but quickly went downhill.

There's definitely some sort of head trauma there judging by the fencing response when he dropped and being all dazed.

When referring to teams seeing that, it was their "opponent" or the Pens that game and the psychological factor.

They stuck up for themselves those 4 games and didn't lose the mental edge.

I've never said anything in regards to the playoffs

, just the game they are currently in.

You say pointless bullshit, which is what I would expect from someone who never played the game at a high enough level outside of rec. won't understand the effect of an 82 game season and the brotherhood that comes with it.

No way was that interference. Paille just had the puck on his stick. Wasn't even 2-3 seconds after.

Doubt you'll see any supplemental discipline.
