All my SADFEELS. The time is ALMOST upon us. End of his regular season NHL life tomorrow. The Finnish Flash has played so excellently and for so long you just never wanna think the day is gonna come. When someone who is so fucking BOSS at hockey retires and it's someone you've always admired it's just a sinking feeling---the end of an era. I just wanna live in a delusional bubble world where Teemu's NHL time is in stasis and never over. At least there's the playoffs. Then I'mma be all SADFEELS all over again.

Trots will not be returning to Nashville next season. Maybe a chance for some decent hockey to be played in Graceland soon?!?

Also, Sedin got shoved into the boards last night (on phone, no link to vid) and went in awkwardly needing to be stretchered off the ice.

I always thought Trots was a very good coach, getting the child predator players to play well for him. Nash probably needs new blood though. They could be worse off next season without him.

I do not share the same opinion of Trotz as I think the award name should be changed to the Barry Trotz Award. Anyone wanna bet who becomes FLA's new coach?

Sure, he's a great coach and I've never stated otherwise. It's his system that drains hockey fans experience. Stuck in the 90s with pure defense. Maybe that's due to the poor quality of skill he's had working for him, but there was a time Forsberg and Kariya played for him and it was still boring hockey.

The thing that makes good coaches good, is their ability to adapt. Quennville didn't always a employ a "run and gun" puck possession style. But, with the right players, he was able to adapt to that type of team.

It's why Torts is a bad coach in Vancouver. He tried instilling his defensive system with players who aren't that type of team. He has much more skill than he did in NY (where that team was more rugged and in your face) and he decided to play that kind of style when outside of 2-3 guys, aren't built for that.

I too agree that he's a good coach, but he's a better coach at getting the most out of a system with underskilled players, and now that they have sung money into bigger named players I think they are expecting better results and a system for more skill.

I view Trotz as the man who can make shit into shinola. But you are right, it is not an exciting system at all. But is a great system for the right teams <cough>FLA<cough>.

And sure he had Foppa, but for what, 1/2 a season along with his no spleen and busted ass foot...

I'd like to see how Trotz does with a team with some actual offensive talent. He did wonders with the unskilled teams he had in NSH.

I would be surprised if that is the job he gets. While perhaps not fair, I do believe he has been typecast. In fact I wonder if he even would know what to do with talent...
