I cant believe the great Mike Haviland hasn't been given a head coaching job with all the openings there have been. The guy was supposedly a legend...yet can't sniff a job....

If I remember right our very own Pat and Eddie were blowing that smoke. :eek:bscene-moneypiss:

Maybe some people on the boards sucked on it, but I think thats where it started.

Fat Mike would've been hired and won a cup...probably in FLA - since they'll win a cup before the Hawks do. Book it.

Hitch extended through 2014-2015. One would think he would be extended more than one year, but whatevahs.

Hitch is one of those coaches who comes in when shit is messed up, brings some order to the organization, and then leaves or gets fired after he does all he can. He's one of the most strict/detailed coaches in the league, and he eventually wears out his welcome with the players. Hence why he's not going to get a longer deal. Rinse and repeat.

Pez did you interview for the Nashville job?

Laviolette won it

I wish we would start seeing some new blood amongst coaching staffs instead of the same guys over and over again.

Tampa, Wild, New Jersey all have gone other ways and have had some success. And yes, others have done the same (Capitals) with nothing.

I'm not bashing Lavi, just saying there's gotta be some new blood out there ready to get a chance.

It tells me that he's got one more chance before they part ways. Next year will also be a disappointment, no question. He is the wrong coach and the make-up of the team is also not SC material. Might have another strong regular season, see some success in the playoffs, but not enough.

He's also too nice... not to mention he's all-offensive in strategy.

Being too player-friendly hasn't exactly won Cups in awhile, and being an offensive coach in the West hasn't really worked well. Just ask the Sharks.

Hell, Bruce Boudreau himself had to change things up when he arrived.

I've never known him to be a "too nice" of a guy....quite the opposite I think. He's got a pretty firey personality and a decent motivator.

Even having Housley there (USA guy)...the should improve drastically offensively - especially from the blueline
