and there it is! "crawfordzzz played teh wellzz behindszz a GREATSzz defeensezzz" yes the defense was great. we do not win the cup without the crawford performances as 2 of these wins in the finals were goalie wins. we could have gotten destroyed out the gate in period 1, it was crawford who kept us in this last night. I just love how you credit someone and than add the "great defense" to try to make sure you dont 100% come out and say you are wrong.

I have no idea what you are even trying to get at - no kidding Crawford played great. Congrats for getting that out of my post! You must really hate your life to have a post like that after mine!

I may have still been just a little drunk when I woke up this morning, that or very tired.:)

Re the diehard vs bandwagon issue (nonissue): I was there in person for the late '60s glory teams, though I napped through a game or two on my mom's lap. Only cared about college hockey in the '80s and '90s and then basically forgot about hockey til 2010. Say about me what you will, but I'm gonna have a big smile on my face all week and probably for a while after that. I hope all fans are enjoying this as much as I am.

Edit: Oh, and I did watch nearly every game that was televised in my area this year. Makes the result of the season that much sweeter.

Pretty amazing. What an awesome season. Blackhawks were the best team from start to finish, pretty impressive. Boston was a formidable appointment and a bounce here or there and it could have easily gone the other way - a very close series.

Credit has to go to Stan, Q, McDonough, Rocky, and other guys up top. A lot of those guys take crap, but 2 Stanley Cups in 4 years is no joke. It was a rough go around after the Stanley Cup purge, but pretty awesome now. This is Stan's team now. Sure the core is Tallon's, but Stan had to make those tough decisions and then we all saw how well the core could do without talent and depth around them...first round exits. Shaw, Frolik, Stalberg, and Saad provided great depth. Handzus came in for just a 4th rounder when many fans thought the Blackhawks needed to give up more and trade for more. The defense was one of the deepest in the game with Oduya, Leddy, and Rozsival as probably the best 4 - 6 in hockey. Emery truly deserved the cup as he helped this team out big time in the regular season. Q was able to get this team to show up every single night and in the end, he pushed the right buttons and made the right changes in order to make this team a winner.

Loved seeing Kane play at an amazing level this entire year. He was a guy many were saying should be traded. Watching him accept the Conn Smythe showed how much he has really matured. Same goes for Crawford, who many wanted gone, who stepped up in a big way and showed how well he could play behind a great defense.

The injuries coming out are impressive. Bickell with a grade 2 sprain (Q said only reason why he broke up the first line to start with after it happened in game 5 vs LA), Handzus with a torn MCL and broken wrist, Hossa with a slipped disc, and toss in Shaw looking like a mess. Warriors.

Going to be some changes this summer with guys like Bickell and Stalberg likely cashing in elsewhere, but I'm sure the Blackhawks will enjoy the short summer and get ready to go at it again.

Stanley Cup Champions!

Holy shit.

If you want the cliff notes of everything the players said during the post game party, just look at this cumulation of parroting right here by RubeWriter.

The last 2 min of the game were just flat out amazing for us Blackhawk fans... I was still out of my seat crazy on the goal that tied it when we scored the winner. I squeeled like a little girl (the combination of trying not to shout out loud as wife was asleep) It is rare in my life I feel such raw emotion, usually weddings or funerals. I can only imagine what it will be like when our Cubbies win a World Series.
Or when Trestman leads Da Bears to a a SB!!

I could sit hear and tell all of you how right I was, but there's really no point.

I hope some of you ******* at least took the time to enjoy this season, man. This was the best team in the league from the opening day of the season til its very end. You don't see a team pile up the wins at the rate that Hawks were this season. If you take their 48-game pace and project it out to an 82-game schedule, it would've tied the all time record.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go watch the game-winning goal another 239480723 times.

Great win by the Hawks and a great season...from the season opener against LA, to the streak, to the Playoff opener against Minnesota, coming back against the Red Wings after being down 3-1, the series clinching goal against the Kings by Kaner, to a hard fought finals win. It was a fun season to watch, now lets repeat, Go Hawks

BOSTON (CBS) — If the Boston Bruins had to lose, it couldn’t have come against a better team than the Chicago Blackhawks.

Here in Boston, things tend to get ugly when the local teams get into spirited playoff matchups. Whether it’s the players in the games, the fans in the crowd (and on Twitter) or the media-on-media crime, a certain level of nasty always finds its way into our lives when the postseason rolls around.

Yet on the grandest stage in hockey, in a hard-fought six-game series, the Bruins and Blackhawks battled for nearly two weeks without incident, and nothing has brewed between the cities of Boston and Chicago except for even more respect than when the series began.

You see, it doesn’t usually matter if the opponents come from as far away as possible and have zero history of any bad blood against Boston — things just tend to happen. It took all of one period for the hatred to begin brewing in Vancouver two years ago, when Alex Burrows kicked off the Stanley Cup Final by biting the finger of Patrice Bergeron. From there, things just got worse, to the point that Boston and Vancouver seemed like hundred-year rivals by the time the series ended. It carried over into the following year, with Michael Felger and Shawn Thornton going at it with Tony Gallagher on live television in one of the greatest spectacles these eyes have ever seen.

But this time, that wasn’t nearly the case. Sure, the two teams spent six games trying to knock each other’s heads off, but that’s just the nature of the sport. Where the Blackhawks differed from all too many Bruins opponents over the years is how they’ve simply accepted the fact that a series against Boston is going to be tough. The Blackhawks not only accepted it but they seemed to embrace it.

Through the six games, there was little, if anything, that anyone from Boston could have taken issue with. And though a stray column or two lobbying for a Johnny Boychuk suspension following Game 5 came out of Chicago, the feeling seemed to be the same there.

From a media perspective, it was a refreshing change of pace. Writing about dirty hits, arguing for suspensions and defending against conspiracy theories from opposing cities can frankly get a bit tiresome. But this time around, the focus was all where it should have been — on the game, on the sport, and on the players.

And thankfully, the players rewarded all of us with some excellent hockey. It was an even matchup heading in, and the 17-15 advantage in goals by Chicago over the 23 periods of hockey are a good indication of just how close the series played out.

Fortunately, the attention remained there, and we weren’t left to yap about a Scott Walker sucker punch, a Mike Richards open-ice hit on David Krejci, a P.K. Subban flop for the ages, an Aaron Rome head shot on a star player or even Kevin Bieksa’s hypocritical mockery of the Bruins’ team jacket. There was no air of superiority coming out of the Blackhawks dressing room, as they chose to let their play do all the talking for them.

Chicago brought lots of physical play and zero complaints. A coach, GM or player could have complained about Boychuk’s hard hit on Jonathan Toews, which was legal but nevertheless had an unpleasant effect from a Chicago standpoint. But the Blackhawks said nothing – at least not publicly – and instead decided to just hit back harder. They were rewarded with a championship.

It seemed, too, that many Bruins fans agree that if it had to be someone to end the season, the Blackhawks were a worthy foe. It was evident when, minutes after seeing their team suffer the most stunning of defeats, a healthy majority of the fans in attendance stayed in their seats to applaud the effort displayed on the ice. They didn’t hurl cups and rags onto the ice but instead gave a rousing ovation before doing the work of any good hockey fan base and booing Gary Bettman.

And so, though the city of Boston would have enjoyed soaking in another championship, and while I can’t speak for everyone here, it’s worth saying to Chicago a very simple message: “Hats off to you.”

I am still waiting for the Packer fan who claimed that the Hawks were not built for the playoffs, to chime in.

If you're talking to me, eat a giant bag of dicks.

The Hawks proved me wrong, by continuing to stick to their original game plan. If you noticed in games 2 & 3, when they tried to play like the Bruins, they lost. Fortunately, they went back to their style of play.

And by the way, go **** yourself.
