The 06-07 Spurs are the last team to not be .700 at All-Star Break.. They also played LeBron's Cavs that year (who were also not .700 at the All-STar break). I believe the 2010 Celtics are the last Finals team to not by .700 at the All-Star Break.

And who was a coach on that C's team? :smug:

You don't think Pat Riley is in the Top 5 for coaches all time?

No. Why put him up there? He was given probably the greatest talent ever GIVEN a coach. He didn't build that team. Plus, I;d never put him in anykind of good category because the guy was/is such an arrogant prick. Patenting his "three peat" shit? **** him. His collusion with Lebron, Bosh, and Wade......**** HIM.

He wasn't coach for that.

I'm assuming this is talking about the Showtime Lakers...

Uhhh... Phil Jackson has walked into Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen, Shaquille O'Neal and Kobe Bryant. So he's just as guilty from that aspect.

Riley's taken 3 different teams to the Finals, won with two different teams. That is an accomplishment.

Do I agree Phil and Auerbach are miles ahead of him.. and even Pop? Yeah. But I'd probably rank Riley at #5.

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT! :) Every time he gets enough love to make it into finals consideration, someone shoots it down over that bullshit NBA lawsuit grudge that shouldn't conflict with the HOF.

Oh how far we've fallen:

The Golden State Warriors are the Las Vegas favorites to win the NBA championship, but LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers still have the sportsbooks' attention.

Heading into the final two months of the regular season, more money has been bet on the Warriors to win the title than any other team at William Hill's sportsbook in Nevada, where Golden State is listed at plus-240, or 12-5. The Cavaliers are next at 3-1, followed by the San Antonio Spurs (13-2) and the Atlanta Hawks (7-1).

I can't see SA getting past the 2nd round. Depending on who they play, they might not get past the 1st.

How many times have we heard this before? lol

It's true, but not true. I just can't count San Antonio out that easily anymore...they defy age and logic.

I have this feeling they will surprise again. Only 2 games seperate the 3rd and 7th seeds.

Here something I pulled from a comment section, its also something I've looked into myself before.

Since 1975-1976 when the NBA/ABA merged only 4 teams have won a title not being ranked in the top 10 in both offensive and defensive efficiency. Right now the true contenders are:

Golden State who is ranked 2nd on offense and 1st on defense
Atlanta who is 5th on offense and 7th on defense
Memphis who is 11th on offense and 6th on defense
Portland who is 10th on offense and 4th on defense
Chicago who is 8th on offense and 12th on defense (even dealing with many injuries)
Spurs who are 12th on offense and 3rd on defense (dealing with many injuries)

If the Spurs (and equally the Bulls) stepped it up in the last two months, they can break the Top 10 for both categories. Cleveland meanwhile is 5th in Offensive efficiency, but a lowly 21st in defensive efficiency. I think Cleveland has too much ground to make up to get into the Top 10... That trade has certainly helped them though. But I still question their defense. I mean we just put 113 points up on them.

Yeah, we have heard it with the Spurs before. But it was usually before the season began. Then after they won 55-60+ again, people jumped back on their bandwagon. This year, less people were counting them out. I'm one of them, but that's just because I don't see it in that team this year. We'll see though

The hawks are a tough team to beat.....but they still won't do shit, even if they made the finals they'd get crushed by whoever comes out of the west

Yeah, I'm waiting for the playoffs before I believe in the Hawks. They look really good now, but I wanna see them play under a lot of pressure.

During the Rose MVP season, we surprised a lot of people and seemed like favorites in the East. But once the playoffs started and the opposing teams were going all out, our weaknesses started to REALLY show.

Weaknesses really showed in that Pacers series. Game 1 we were down the entire game and I think down 9 with 2 minutes to go before Rose went crazy.

I remember being sold on Indiana after that series. They played hard as hell. That's also when Frank Vogel started making a name for himself.

Ohm Youngmisuk: Detroit's interest in Joe Johnson included reaching out to Nets about a package of Brandon Jennings + expiring contracts for Joe per sources Twitter @NotoriousOHM -

I don't get this for Detroit. It may help them get to the playoffs this season, but who cares? It does nothing for them in the future, and they'll just be stuck with Johnson and his contract for another year.
