Jennings always has big games here and there. He even goes 1-2 weeks where he's really hot, then goes another month where he can't hit shit. He's been that way since his rookie year. Shit, he looked phenomenal his first month in the league and then regressed every month after that. It's just who he is.

well argue what you want but i think Stan has done a good job thus far

i don't get why somebody would try to discredit him but whatever

he had DJ Augustin looking great aswell

i think he has that thibs touch when it comes to these scoring point guards

I guess I just don't see how he's done a fantastic job. He made a move [getting rid of Smith] that most people would have made. That isn't genius.

Most of the players on Detroit haven't improved, and their record hasn't improved. They still suck as a team. They may sneak into the playoffs as a result of the East being weak as hell... definitely weaker than last season.

Again... how is he doing a "fantastic" job?

You know who has done a fantastic job? Mike Budenholzer, and you can even throw Jason Kidd in there. With all the injuries MIL has had, they have ben pretty decent, and have already won 16 more games this season.

fantastic might be a strong word...but you had already discredited him before that and said they probably would only win more games this year because Reggie Jackson (which is a move Stan made)

based on what he was given i think he done a good job

i can't say every person would have just cut Josh Smith the way he did

most excepted them to let Monroe walk so they can move Josh to PF

i read a tweet the other day that there is only 4 players left from Dumars mess...so hes weeded out the trash

not saying Stan is holy god but he is turning that team around and think he deserves some credit

I agree. Stan is doing a good job in The Motor City, he's building a team. Detroit has been awful and you can see the improvement. Given time to work with this team I think you'll see the improvements bare fruit when Stan brings in his players.

Stan has done very well in his little time in Detroit. As AG7 said, he's basically cleared out all of the "trash" from Dumars' horrendous signings the past 4 years. That alone was impressive to me. Detroit, much like Milwaukee, is a team on the rise that will be a factor in the East in a very short time. They have a lot of young talent & what could potentially be the most dominant big man duo in the NBA once they become more consistent. The future is bright in the Motor City & the lion's share of that credit goes to SVG.

How much of the garbage did he really clear though?

Charlie Villanueva's contract expired when SVG got there. They chose not to bring him back. Not a very bold move, and they didn't really "clear" him out. His contract was up, he sucked and was not worth bringing back.

Rodney Stuckey actually wasn't ever trash. He was a pretty decent bench player. Not bringing him back wasn't really amazing either.

Then he got rid of Josh Smith, which was a good move... but again, most people would have done it.

Other than that, the team is pretty much the same, once you exclude the insignificant bench changes.

I was thinking it was right after or around the draft.

The post Jordan Finals all pretty much had poor ratings, which always led me to believe the NBA just lost a lot of casual fans after Jordan retired..... 10 years later, people seemed to be over the loss of Jordan and either the NBA had a bunch of new fans or people were pulled back in.

I did some research papers on Jordan back in high school and if memory serves me correctly, ratings dropped like 50-60% once Jordan retired the 2nd time. I know quite a few older people that stopped watching NBA ball after he retired.

I think Detroit has been severely under performing for a few years. SVG moving away from that deep ball chucking offense of his has also helped. Credit given where credit due.

That is all.

He makes a strong case, and might win it. I think all of that depends on how far up the seedings OKC winds up. If they miss the playoffs, then he's just a stat machine.

I agree. But I also read something that may hurt him, and that is that no MVP has been worse than a 3rd seed. I don't think OKC can climb that high even if they go like 20-2 haha
But we will see. He is bringing an overall better package than Curry or Harden. He's putting up numbers that only MJ and LeBron have done..

Detroit is averaging ~6 more 3's per game under SVG. And overall, Detroit's offense was better last season than it is this season.

But it's not as bad as it was in Orlando! (*wait* checks stats before foot-in-mouth...meh, only slightly less) LOL, which was my point, even though this Detroit team would actually benefit from more volume 3pt shooting, because they do have Drummond and Monroe.

I wonder how much less, since Josh Smith has been bought out.

They've been averaging 26.8 since Smith was bought out. So a little bit more. But that was probably thanks to Brandon Jennings going crazy with his shots. Since he's been injured, they're averaging 24.7 a game.

Westbrook is having a great season but yeah 8th seeds don't get MVP's

i think Harden will get it...Dwight being out and him shouldering the load will bode well for him with voters

I'm feeling like a Steph Curry MVP this season as of now. Warriors are going to get some kind of representation in the end of the season awards.

I'm thinking Curry too. They'll probably win over 60 games, and I don't think voters will ignore that. It's hard not to vote for a guy who's on a 60+ win team and has played that well.

I would say if not Curry MVP they'd give Kerr COY, but with Atlanta doing what they're doing, I'd say they'd have to give it to Budenholzer at this point.

If not for injury, OKC is a top 3 team in the West for sure. As long as they make the playoffs, Westbrook has a legit shot. I won't say he's the clear cut favorite, but it is neck and neck with him and Harden at this point, with Steph Curry nipping at their heels.

At the end of the day, I agree. I think Harden wins as well. He's the best scorer in the game, averaging career highs in almost every category, and has played every game while becoming more of a leader on the court.
