Hopefully Doubront can step up his game now that he is out of BOS. He has been horrible for them this year. Time will tell. I'm getting use to saying that as a cubs fan!

That doesn't mean that if he's a reliever, he'll suck. The big thing with Jackson has been that he has been not using his best stuff in the first inning. If he's a reliever, he'd be forced to.

I'm not too worried about him moving out of the rotation at this point. Maybe next year.

There is a thing called pitching backwards. Using breaking pitches in fastball counts. It is not about using his best stuff. It is about changing speed and eye level.

You would think he would have gotten it by now. Waste of 11 mil per

What I see is Hendricks and Wada are less talented than Jackson and Wood but are having more success. They change speed and control the AB vs tossing up meatballs.

What happens when a pitcher with talent uses his head? You get Shark and Arrieta level production.

As we have seen Bosio can push his starters to become quality SP. For some reason Jackson has been the exception. Must be between the ears.

Marlin's DFA Jacob Turner. He's only 23 and was part of the package for Miggy. Might be worth a look.

Maybe it was Garza...?

Could be. Cubs den mentioned him being talked about when they dealt Garza but he first was on my radar the year prior when they were trying and ultimately failed because of Soriano's NTC.

Looks like they have Turner listed to start the 27th.

So Wood 26th
Turner 27th
Arrieta 28th
Hendricks 29th
30th DH Wada game 1 Doubront game 2. 26th man rule on DH. No listing for the 31st.

Dividing the season into thirds...

1st 54 games 20-34
2nd 54 games 26-28
3rd 54 games 15-12. 27 remaining

Pretty much what I hoped for was to see this team become better at the end then the beginning of year with some of the future core players in lineup.

That april really killed this team. If the first stretch was say 25-29 this team would be perceived quite differently.

You can point it on the pen. Early season it was shit.

Yes the O put more pressure on the staff but as we are seeing this team can win with low run support. Having more run support just gives more margin for error.

So I was watching PTI today and they were discussing the US men's soccer team and how Klinsmen had put their goal as the semi-finals of the next world cup. Frankly, given that they'd only ever reached that level once in 1930 its an extremely realistic goal. Yet PTI was killing him for not saying the goal was to win it all. I found this as an interesting comparison to the cubs where as people bitched when the cubs mentioned unrealistic goals.

From a business perspective goals should be reachable.

Fans have been falling in ballparks recently at an alarming rate. Haven't seen any of them shut down.
Ballparks and Roof of homes that are suing the city not the same

Not saying itll happen but im sure if the city wanted too, their kawyers may find something to use it in their favor with the lawsuit against them..
