The problem is that you can't win with Cutler. All they did yesterday was waste the rest of Matt Forte and Brandon Marshall's career. The Cutler fanboys don't care about that, they don't care about results, they just want to have their idol around to fawn over like teenage girls. It's really pathetic.

I definitely sympathize with this POV, but I don't know if I believe it. If we can win with Grossman/Orton we can with Cutler. With them it required a top 5 D, with Cutler I think a top 15 D would be fine. The real issue is the injuries, if he can't stay on the field then you're absolutely right. I guess we'll see.

P.S - just wanted to add, I do enjoy pounding my chest though, it makes my moobs wobble, at least 2 minutes of fun there everytime.

I think injuries is most peoples concerns. Obviously a few of the anti-Cutler crowd think he can never make the necessary plays to win big games. Cutler's lost and won plenty of "big games" here. The Bears team itself can't seem to beat many playoff worthy teams though, sometimes that's Cutler's fault, sometimes its the defenses fault.

one common theme I am seeing is a few posters hanging on to the "I was right and the 'haters' were wrong." What bothers me about this is the fact that most of the "haters" were all expecting Cutler to get signed, granted I don't think anyone thought it would have been a 7 year deal but most understand that he probably wont see the last 2-3 years of that contract. So if most of the posters who didn't want him back knew that he would be back how are they wrong?

This has been the most confusing aspect of desperado and BearsBud's posts in this thread (we can say "fanboys" but to be fair it's really only been them; the rest haven't been bad at all).

The argument was never "will Cutler get signed or won't he?". Like you said, most of us who aren't sold on him expected him to be back. The argument was, is, and as long as he's here always will be "Is Cutler a QB you can win the Superbowl with?"

In reality, all this thread has done is expose the fact that while there are a majority of fans whose opinions on Cutler are based on what they think he can do for the Bears, there are a minority of morons like desperado and BB who literally idolize Cutler and aren't particularly interested in results, as long as he's the one playing. It's very difficult to have any respect for people like that as Bears fans.

I think after 53 pages it's safe to say that you, Bearmick are the one who won CCS. You stuck by your convictions that Bearsbud and Desperado are "fanboys," Cutler gets a contract and before even knowing the terms of the contract and how it might possibly impact the team, those two are posting all over the place declaring victory over the "haters."

They proved that they are "fanboys" to the entire board, while you have lost nothing except maybe your faith that the Bears can win a championship in the next 2-3 years...

Desperado will bookmark this post, to prove you wrong later.

Yeah, this thread has really separated the wheat from the chaff when it comes to that. The likes of Prideisbears IJPH and Broc are Cutler fans and they like him, but they're bears fans first and foremost. I won't refer to them as fanboys anymore. BB and desperado are truly the fanboys. To refer to everyone who likes Cutler as fanboys is to dilute the meaning of the word.

I believe the Bears can win a SB with Jay leading the way. I was a little shocked at the deal myself, because it sounded like the Bears had just been handcuffed, but after seeing the details, it really is pretty team friendly. I'm more satisfied at having consistency on offense for the first time since I've started watching the Bears. We have the starters and a system that will be in place for more than 1-2 seasons. It's about time I can watch the Bears offense grow. Now if Emery can just build a decent defense, we'll be contenders for a decent time. By year 3 of this deal, Cutler will have shown plenty in this system on whether or not the Bears should be looking for an immediate replacement, or someone to groom down the road.

I think that Cutler is good enough that with the weapons around him and a good offensive coach we can have a top 5ish offense. IMO that's good enough to win a Super Bowl with.
