Here are the numbers, according to Spiegel's source:

The official salary cap hits for Cutler are as follows:

’14: 11.8 mil
’15: 15.3 mil
’16: 16.8 mil
’17: 18.3 mil
’18: 18.8 mil
’19: 22 mil
’20: 23 mil
This seems totally out of whack in comparison with what has been reported up until now. It would mean the Bears would still be paying Cutler 5 years from now no matter what and I like the idea of not owing him any guaranteed money after 3 years.

Why in Cutlers case though? 23 Million in '20 probably won't be that much for a solid QB. If he isn't worth the cap hit in the final years of his contract you simply move on or restructure. This is a good thing that Emery did if it's true, especially for the Cutler signing.

Except to get it out of the way in 3 years with team options for the latter end is much more team friendly. You pay him for what are likely to be his best seasons, then you can get cutthroat when or if he isn't living up to expectations.

Yes I understand that, instead they went into the forth year if it's 54 million guarantee. I don't think it's that big of a deal honestly, and we need the cap space right now. In a few years the cap space will have grown.

Nope...it will just be the excuse next year if Cutler's play mirrors this years

Shall we revisit?

Again...I don't know how Tim Jennings play would make Jay Cutler throw into to triple coverage resulting in an INT...or fumble the ball when taking a sack resulting in a TD for the other team.

And for the whole post since the quoted was only your reply to another post:
Nice try though. My post stands, BTW, it was post #1102.

This is the first sentence I read from the link supplied in another thread:
Now... I will preface this by saying these are just estimations using the data has been given combining it with how other QB's contracts are structured that are similar in nature. Namely Romo, Rodgers, Stafford and others.

Much more of a traditional contract if true.

Apparently not.

Well since the post you responded to had to do with the defense and that they sucked. your reply tells me you think the defense was being used as an excuse for poor play on Cutler's part and if he mirrored his play next year to this year, that isn't a viable excuse. Isn't that what you were saying? If not, please educate me!

Yes...which is why I don't understand why your post was out in left field.

I guess I fail to understand how the D was at fault when Cutler commits a turnover that results in points

Because like the Philly game, the Bears were already down 14 points in less than 7 minutes in the 1st qtr. Changes how the opposing defense plays against a team. So for me, yeah defense can dictate how a game is played.

So for you do wins and losses mean anything or just individual play? I would like to know if you think the game is a team sport or not.

Both. Everything BAD is Cutler. Everything GOOD is TEAM.

Well considering the context was on individual play...not sure what you are asking.

Nice you got the point. As expected Bud didn't!

Meh only with certain posters obviously. It's the same crew from day to day and some just troll for fun, no big deal.

You know what I'm asking, it wasn't that difficult was it? Really?

All I know is what you're asking has nothing to do with the context

I'm very disappointed in Phil Emery. I aint even mad at Culter.. get your money. But damn this was a dumb ass deal on Emery's part. 7 years $126 mil?!?! Culter isn't worth that on the open market. I could see if he was worth that on the open market and you had no choice but to match. That's "superstar" money for a "good/average" QB.

Dudes way overpaid.. Supply & Demand except he hasn't supplied anything besides one playoff win vs a 7-9 team.

Cutler's not necessarily the problem but in the 8 years of his career he damn sure hasn't been the solution. I think the only quarterbacks that deserve superstar money (110mil+) are ones who have shown and demonstrated the capability (or at least potential) to carry a team and win big games for them. Cutler has not. The guaranteed money takes away from other areas of need. Josh McCown had better performance in the same team, same system, same offense, making half a million dollars. That's literally 1/30th of what they just signed up to pay Jay. Jay comes back, narrowly beats an AWFUL tanking Cleveland Browns squad who lost their last like 8 gms including to the Jags, loses the two games that could have earned us a playoff bid and gets 127 milly. On what fuckin planet does that make sense? But "oh jay's better than historical Bears QBs so that must mean he's worth it".

Will he finally play a full season? Will he finally reach 4,000 yards? Will he finally finish the season with a 90+ passer rating? Man I hope he lives up to this contract or the franchise will be set back once again.

I agree with some of what you wrote, but didn't you go on record and say you not posting again if Cutler is back?

Honest question, what has Cutler done that made him deserve a $126M contract with $54M guaranteed?

Outplayed the backup QB, sans 2013.

It had to do with what was more important and individual playing well or wins and losses. And that was hard for you.
