As long as Teuvo can adjust as the season goes on and play even somewhat decently on the second line with any two of Hossa, Sharp, Kane, or Saad all they really need to do is just sign some bottom six center to replace Handzus, qualify Smith (and I'm hoping Morin and give him a real shot) try to get rid of Versteeg, and this team is good to go on another similar run next season.

Third line with the ability to easily be able to play on either top line when needed or for a different look. And of course his power play time. He's very important too, as he can solidify that third line.

:laughing-rofl: Careful there, this bottom six center will be your new whipping boy/Handzus (sorry Handzus you don't get that title forever). Imagine the bitching :crying-yellow: and anguish when the line mixologist puts this new bottom 6 center on the ice with Kane. :violence-shootself:

I don't understand the thought process that leads someone to think getting rid of Leddy is a good idea, he's an excellent defenseman. He's a #2-#3 dman on just about any team and he's getting better every year. I don't really think we have to get rid of Brookbank either unless we can find another decent defenseman who plays very physical. We have very little physical presence, I'm not saying it's why we lost but it's a facet of the game we do not possess. Would be good to see us add a competent hitter or two. Versteeg has to go, Handzus is gone, and Rozsival has to go. If we could get Frolik back that would be great, or Brouwer or Bolland. Tuevo is going to be an excellent addition to the squad next season but we need to add at least one good d-man.

He (Leddy) is not an excellent defenseman. He is a good skater with potential that's the best I can say about him. For a defensman he struggles when being fore checked, is weak on the boards and shys from contact. I don't care what he could be on the Florida Panthers. On this team he is a 5/6/7 defenseman. He's had 3 full seasons and all we hear about is his potential. Not panning out IMO. Trade him while he still has value.

As much as I would LOVE to see Kesler in the IndianHead, I don't think I could handle losing the WCF and Seabrook in the same year. I also think that our core players, Keith, Seabrook, Toews, Kane would all take less money than they deserve to keep this team together. Seabrook would be the fourth highest scoring player on the Vancouver roster and one of their better D-men played his way to a -39 this season while putting up 22 points.....yeah they would take Seabrook in a fucking heartbeat probably even at the cost of Kesler who didn't have a great season for a less than good team. I'm trying to look at players under $5 mil so as not to put us over a barrel.

UFA's to look at around the league

Defensemen:

Brooks Orpik, yeah he's a motherfucker but it would be nice if he was our motherfucker. He doesn't get a tone of penalties despite his very physical game, and he doesn't make a lot of costly mistakes. He also doesn't score much, but we could get him for $4mil/yr and Pittsburgh is in the midst of a clusterfuck rebuild that saw the GM get fired but the coach stayed at least until the new GM is in place. Not a good environment and who wouldn't want to play for a team that has 3 WCF's and a Stanley Cup in the last 3 years?

Sami Salo would be another nice get, similar money to Orpik but he doesn't bring the physical game the Orpik does. Similar points though and a better +/-. There are a few other Dmen out there who are good possibly better than these two but their money is much higher.

Centers:

Dave Bolland is available for under $4mil but he had surgery for a major injury in April (severed tendon in his ankle). Would love to see him back here, but man that is a serious injury to recover from.

Derek Roy is available from St. Louis for around $4mil but I don't think St. Louis will let him go.

Mikhail Grabovski is available from Washington for around $3mil

Wingers:

Not much, Ben Eager is available......

Frolik is an RFA

Wow, Winnipeg is loaded with former Hawks, Mufflini posted a -20 this seaso, big surprise.

Outside of a trade there isn't a ton of available players that are going to fit what we are looking for, luckily we have a lot in the system.

Luckily our team needs a 5/6/7 defenseman as 1/2/3/4 are spoken for. He put up 31 points and a +10 this season and he played every single game of the regular season, one of only 4 players on the team to do that (amazingly Bollig is one of those players). He's 47th in the league in scoring among defensemen, 43rd in the league among defensemen for +/-, 14th in the league among defensemen in games played and he had only 10 penalty minutes in 82 games. On what planet is this a 5/6/7 defensemen?

I don't see a splash free agent signing. Would take a major move trade wise to free cap space. I look for them to unload under performing players, bring up a yewt or two, and sign a few veteran players at bargain rates to fill out the roster.

I worry about Raanta being stolen away with an offer sheet and them failing to match it.

-11 career playoff performer (3 seasons) with a few goals and a few assists. Spends long periods of playoff games on the bench in Q's dog house because he can't handle the pressure.

I agree to disagree.

I fail to see how 47th best or 43rd best in a few stats makes him "excellent". What word would you use to describe Keith's or Hammer's play?

The Hawks can offer something most teams can't which might help keep some players, the very likely chance to go deep in the playoffs for as far as the eye can see. Don't know if that will be enough for Raanta, I hope so because losing him would be a big hit.
