Well, no news so far on us getting under the cap, which will only make things worse the longer it gets dragged on.


Other news, once promising 3rd overall pick Cam Barker has been given an invite to training camp.

If Barker is healthy and motivated just adds more depth to the competition for that 6-7 D slot.   I'd be shocked if he made the team out of camp.   Could see him get a roster spot on the Icehogs though as a mentor to the yewt and for added depth.</p>

Always felt his injuries interfered with him getting the development he could have.</p>

In other washed up Blackhawk prospect news Simon Danis-Peppin is part of a lawsuit against the NHL regarding head injuries despite never playing an NHL game.</p>

It'll be interesting to read as a bunch of us were at prospects camp when he got that massive head injury. Though if I remember correctly, he didn't participate in the rest of the camp afterwards. Will read it later.

The best Barker could hope for is a spot in Rockford, because they're really young on the blue line. There's no way in Hell he makes the Hawks' roster.</p>

Making deals during and after camp ought to be more prudent, since the Hawks and all the other teams have a better knowledge of what they have and might be lacking.</p>

Barker is probably just there to be an NHL vet to dress during exhibition games so they don't need to dress someone who will actually be on the team.</p>
