That's what I'm saying.........To use him as a trade piece for a star player....

P.s, on my last post my keyboard went haywire, so I edited my mispellings.

I'd honestly only use him for a package for a player like Kevin Love, unless it was used in a trade that could get us in draft position to get Wiggins/Parker. Mirotic has to much upside to me to give him up for a guy like LaMarcus Aldridge. He's been unstoppable this season over in Europe, I think we should see what he can do for us rather than just dump him for a guy that's very good but not great.

Think it has been said a few times, Rose can't be amnestied because his contract is to new. Boozer on the other hand, can be.

Contract had to be signed before the new CBA to be eligible for amnesty. So no Rose is not eligible. They don't even for sure get the Bobcats pick this year do they? Also if they trade Noah it will be to a team outside the lottery and Noah is better than a guy you will get after the top 10. Keep Noah. Deng may not even fit into the long term plans based on his contract so trading him makes sense

The Bobcats pick is top 10 protected this year, top 8 protected next year and unprotected in 2016. At this rate, the Bobcats will probably be in the hunt for one of the bottom playoff spots in the East, so we could very well get two picks in the teens this year.

If we tank this season, we may have a better than 1.7% (Rose) chance at the top pick of this upcoming draft......plus the Bobcat pick.

Does everyone fully understand what tanking this year involves?

Not to spoil the podcast I'll be taping tonight with X since we're talking about this topic at length, but if the Bulls were to tank (which they won't, there's a 0% chance Thibs is going to let this team quit, and there's also a 0% chance Deng, Noah, etc., would let this team roll over -- it isn't happening), we would have to deal both Deng and Boozer. Not only are those large contracts to move, the Bulls roster is already set to the point that it'd have to be a player of similar value in return. We couldn't add multiple pieces unless we traded multiple pieces.

Think about it -- are we going to take in all these players in trades and just start cutting guys with guaranteed contracts and go ridiculously deep into the luxury tax? We're already there as the roster is currently constructed. If we're looking to retool on the fly, we need to do it after the '14 draft. Let Deng walk for nothing or sign and trade him for a package of younger assets. Let Hinrich's $4 million walk away for nothing and trade Boozer's and Dunleavy's expiring deals for something. Other than that, our roster is going to look eerily similar to what it looks like right now. The only changes I'd see are whatever picks we land in the draft and possibly Mirotic if he comes over from Spain.

I was responding to your post that stated our potential of two picks in the teens (Bobcats & our natural pick). A pick in the teens suggests that we'd be an early playoff exit. Maybe I read that wrong.

I'm suggesting that a team minus Rose & Deng, while Thibs being ordered by the FO to play our young players tons of minutes would potentially result in the Bulls missing the playoffs. That puts us in the lottery with a chance at the top pick.

The history of our team says that Kirk, Noah, & Taj will miss time at some point during the season due to injury. Boozer is playing well this season & could be possibility moved to a contender for an expiring. Dunleavy can also help out a contender this season.

What it boils down to is GarPax rolling up their sleeves & getting busy with some creative trades.

We're not winning nothing this season, so we should take advantage of this rare opportunity.

I agree 100% with this. If the past is any indication, I won't bank on the FO getting creative unless something falls in their lap -- they certainly haven't been willing to get their hands dirty in the past. I don't see Boozer getting moved this year, unless a contender has a catastrophic front court injury. Deng is much more likely, but Thibs has a love affair with him and I think it'd cause a shit storm unless the Bulls had another major injury. Here's to hoping the FO finally mans up and realizes they need to hit the reset button.

Dude, they lost to Cleveland the other day. Tanking won't be as hard as you think. I agree moving Deng makes it easier because of his scoring.

They lost to Cleveland but they're a half game out of 3rd seed. That's how god awful the East is this year.
