well that was total domination by the grizz. they only had 5 turnovers until the last 3 minutes of the game when they put in the 3rd string PG and he committed 3 of em. they shut down LA and Lillard
Yeah I just imagine Portland wouldnt do much in these playoffs.. Grizzlies real test will be next round.

well according to your Offense and defense rankings, Portland was one of the four teams that "qualified," and the grizz just kicked their teeth down their throat

Fun Fact: Steph Curry did not play in the 4th quarter of 17 of the 80 games he played this season. Also, he played 350 less minutes than James Harden. Oh, and despite playing in 11 more games, he actually only played 100 more minutes this season.

Wesley Matthews was a huge part of that and later having him and Afflalo helped them defensively quite a bit. Now they have neither. That also makes a difference.

Matthews was out right around the trade deadline so there was still plenty of games for those ratings to drop. afflalo on the other hand is an excuse, any word on how long he is out for? but if you want to talk injuries, conley is playing with plantar faciatis(we all know how bad that can be). point being everyone has injuries and the ones playing are banged up too for the most part. its playoff time, theres no excuses

I agree with you in the sense that Matthews and Afflalo are not the difference makers here in terms of their rankings..

Portland lacks superstar power and are playing a team that has a better record than them. Their offense is efficient, but never has been anything that scares anyone. Memphis, while not as offensive efficient as Portland is in terms of the ratings, has a better defense.

Well I mean it's not like those guys are the difference between 8 and 22 or something crazy, but they were two of their best perimeter defenders and two of their best 3pt shooters. It does make a difference. I know what you mean about no excuses, but there's still a difference between hurt and playing and hurt and not playing. If Conley was out I'd say the comparison holds more weight. I'm not even saying that Portland would be beating Memphis with those two playing, just that those two would change how Portland plays and that they'd be much better with both healthy.

The Brooklyn-atlanta matchup really surprised me the most. I was openly rooting for the Pacers to snag that 8th seed because I felt (still do) that they were better equipped to beat the atlanta professional basketball team than the Nets. Now, it seems like DWill is awake and they could push that series to 6-7 games if they steal one in atlanta

lamarcus Aldridge and damian lillard aren't enough star power? I believe most people(including most on this board) would say that LA and lillard are better players than anyone on the grizz

well afflalo will more than likely play in game 2 so they are only without him for the 1 playoff game

I'd take Gasol over both. :dunno:

I would too. it would certainly be fair to say Portland has 2 of the top 3 players in this series either way
Yeah definitely. Unless you're of the opinion that Conley is better than Lillard, but I don't know if anyone would say that right now. Conley is probably the next best player though. And then it's just a matter of whether you think Zbo is better than Batum (which I do) as to who has the advantage of the top 5.

Imo Memphis has a deeper roster. The depth on Portland isn't really anything special.

absolutely. Memphis is the better TEAM for sure. that's why I think they will go deep and give GS all they can handle and maybe even knock em off. loved how they shut down LA and lillard, you could see the frustration on their faces. playoff basketball is a different game then reg season basketball

Yeah they have a shot. The West imo is still GS's to lose and I still think the Spurs are the team best suited to take them down out of the bunch, but again, Memphis has a shot too. I just think GS has at least as much depth as Memphis and can win more matchups.
