Yeah they have a shot. The West imo is still GS's to lose and I still think the Spurs are the team best suited to take them down out of the bunch, but again, Memphis has a shot too. I just think GS has at least as much depth as Memphis and can win more matchups.

draymond green is definitely the X factor. he is a matchup nightmare for teams

He has been their key to success this season imo. Super versatile on both ends and doesn't seem to lose much going against bigger opponents. Definitely the x factor.

yep. if im the grizz I would take ZBO out when draymond comes in the game to play the 4 and bring him in when green sits. send out a lineup of gasol, jeff green(put him on draymond, green is 6'8 and quick like draymond), tony allen, Courtney lee, and mike conley to matchup with GS's small lineup

That's their best defensive group for sure, but they'll really miss Zbo's offense. You're need Lee to be draining 3s and Allen to generate a lot of fast breaks to make up for it.

well, 4 of the 5 guys on the court can score the ball. gasol, green, lee, and conley. allen is out there to F up klay Thompson lol

Well Lee isn't really a scorer imo. He's a 3&D guy, which does have value, but Zbo is a load offensively and if you take that out of the game you need to make up for his scoring and rebounding in some way. If Draymond is getting offensive boards on Jeff Green, that's just as dangerous imo. You can't really stop the Warriors offense but Allen can mess things up for them by being disruptive. A lot of things need to go the Grizz's way regardless.

lee spaces the floor(and scored like 10ppg), which is crucial for a team that likes to score in the paint. jeff green is a 6'8 guy so he should be able to hang with draymond in that regard, but you never know for sure till you try it granted.

Yeah like I said Lee has value, but you're still losing offense without Zbo. There's a lot of ifs in the Green matchup so that's the swinging point imo. But the longer you have Zbo on the bench, the more it plays into GS's favor. And Draymond will be playing near 40 minutes a game so something will have to give on Memphis's end. They may even be better served trying to attack Draymond with Zbo to try to get him in foul trouble.

lamarcus Aldridge and damian lillard aren't enough star power? I believe most people(including most on this board) would say that LA and lillard are better players than anyone on the grizz
Like Clone said, Gasol is better. Aldridge is good in his right... Lillard still has potential to continue to improve, but I can't say he took that 3rd year next step this season that many expected. But there's still next year.

But on the surface right now... They have two All-Stars and you're right in 2 out of the Top 3 players..Overall though, Memphis has a better overall team than Portland.

Despite Portland's rankings, they scared no one coming into these playoffs.. Similar to the Hawks on the Eastern Conference side.

yeah, I mean obviously you cant avoid the zbo/draymond matchup completely. but that smaller lineup with jeff green at the 4 would be an alternative they could go to to mix things up and give draymond some different looks. I agree that I think Memphis will/should look to post up ZBO on draymond right from the start of the game. have to make GS pay for the matchup just like they will try and exploit draymonds outside game on ZBO

getting ahead of things a bit but I feel GS and Memphis are both advancing and its an interesting matchup so why not

It's a safe assumption that they'll meet I think. But yeah that PF matchup will be key. Another key is Conley's offense. He's pretty solid all around, but if he has one of those 4-13 shooting nights and Curry begins to heat up, it puts Memphis in a really tough spot. He doesn't necessarily have to match Curry by any means, but he's got to score more than he usually does imo.

ehh I don't know that conley has to score more than normal. sure 4 - 13 isn't going to help any...but if he gets his 15 points, 7 assists, and plays solid defense on curry, I think the grizz will sign up for that in a heartbeat(especially considering his bum foot)

Well yeah obviously 4-13 is like worst case scenario or whatever, but the point is, if he's not making Curry work defensively, it makes his life defensively that much harder. Curry is a load enough already. Or if not score more, maybe bump that assist number up. Memphis does need to score more than they normally do to take out GS in a series imo. They're a great defensive team, but if they can't score enough, it won't matter how well they defend. Kind of like the Bulls of years past with better offense. Memphis already has the pieces to be a better offensive team for a series, they just need to do it.

for sure, I just have always felt playoff basketball is a different game from reg season basketball. the game slows down with more half court offense typically.

Conley foot is fucked. He can play through it for only so long. He said he feels like there is a golf ball under his foot. Memphis was 20th in scoring this year. I dont see them winning against the Clippers, Spurs, or GS if they meet against them. Houston, I just truly never believe in them. I dont believe in Dwight Howard.

Absolutely true, but the Warriors offense is still high octane due to their ridiculous 3pt shooting. They may not be dropping 110 per game necessarily, but they'll still be putting up points. You can say run them off the 3pt line and stuff and absolutely every team will try to do so, but they shoot dang near 40% from 3 as a team so there''s only so much you can do against a team that good from 3. As such, the Grizzlies will need to score a little more to account for that in addition to whatever defensive plan they already have. That may very well come via forced turnovers for breakaway layups. It's not like they're not good enough offensively or whatever, just that GS is that good.

they were 20th in scoring only because of their pace of play. their offensive rating was 13th in the league. but conleys foot is def their ?
