Back top topic, It was fun to watch today's game. All our big time prospects played today. The back to back to back was still pretty awesome because we have been waiting for what seems like an eternity for them to play against ml competition. There was good and bad from our young players. I expect that to continue in the season. The lineup is going to hit a ton of homers and strikeout a lot.

This. Trevor Bauer, MLB competition?

Trevor Bauer, 24 years old

2014 season: 153 IP, 4.18 ERA, 4.10 FIP, 1.379 WHIP

He is slotted in as the number 4 pitcher for the Indians. I dont know about you but that seems like they face ML competition.

No action in the Sux forum today?

I've been a fan of the Sox and Cubs along time because I live in the area.
I saw the 3 homeruns against a wannabe on all local stations.
I didn't need someone to post it on the board.

Alcantara has some pop in his bat. Nobody puts Mendy in a corner.

The first 3 in our lineup today didnt look good. Alcantara has some holes to fill and I hope he does because he would be an incredible asset with his skills

Is he not an unknown commodity?

So, you came into a spring training thread and got emotional over someone posting about a spring training game. We have a troll everybody!

No, his 153 IP and guaranteed spot in the rotation isnt an unknown. His unknown is if he becomes the potential ace that people thought or if he stays the same he brings value to a team. He is a ML player which makes him ML competition.

Not a troll at all. Just keep perspective.
When homeruns mean more than misplayed fly balls, throwing errors, shoddy picthing, and a loss? There is some perspective to be gained there.

The perspective is that it's Spring Training...hence the thread title. Starting pitchers aren't even pitching more than 2 innings yet.

I understand it's only ST. Only note the good, not the bad.
It's either worship or you're a troll? Sad

If you aren't a troll you are admitting you are a selective reader. Keep your fantasy that we only discuss the good here.

Yeah, if we're not making someone significantly overpay for Castillo, I'd very much prefer that we keep him.

Good point. As much as some would like to have Castillo, we have no idea how Montero will be as the full time starter. Castillo in a back-up role might be great for some, but I would rather him do well enough that the Cubs get either something pretty good in return, or maybe they can package him to get rid of something the Cubs don't need like Jackson.

Either one I am okay with.

If the Cubs were on the brink of great things this year (which is a longshot) I would say keep Castillo. By the time the Cubs figure to be really good, he (Castillo) will be in his last ARB year at best, and Schwarber may be knocking on the door. Might as well hope for the best that he absolutely tears up Spring training and the Cubs are able to move him to a team that needs him.

Not too long ago we were talking about the Cubs not having much at the C position. Now all of a sudden we could be looking at having too many. Nice problem to have. :yep:
