Is it really a bad business move? That's hard to say unless you have Doc Brown's Deloreon. Seven years is a long time to gamble on a player's future. Injuries are a huge factor....is the player actually the real deal....general greed by player and/or his representative....all that plays into it. Does the player blow out the gate with All-Star numbers then suddenly turn to shit...we've seen that before. Jerome Walton anyone? What if he is the real deal? After after a few years of All Star play you're gonna want him to be happy...probably gonna have to over pay at some point before it gets to seven years whether there is arbritration or not. What if he turns into baseball's version of Derrick Rose and never realizes his potential because of injuries? Just too many damn possibilities out there.

If he's ready, if he makes the team...and most importantly....will he be playing everyday? If the answers are yes, you gotta bring him north.

Yeah, it's pretty obvious to me that Brett's whole purpose in life is to try to bring us Cubs fans down in this exciting ST thread by talking about only negative things he harps on. Attendance, really? Nice try to bait Cubs fans into your Sox attendance debate, to which you always say we bring up.

Really Brett? 50 posts on Bryant and his situation that pretty everyone knows what's going to happen? I sure wish a Cubs mod would send a message to this troll and ban him for a short time from the Cubs forum so he can think about his contributions to the forum.

Maybe he can work on getting some convo going in the 14 post Sox ST thread? Sox have some good stuff going on too, right? Ironically, however, when some Cubs fans actually go over there to get some convo going, all he does is complain about it. Trolls being trolls cuz that's what they know I guess??? :dunno:

He's got a couple throwing errors, however, the Cubs should probably send him down to AAA for a couple weeks to work on that. ;)

For a minute I thought you were talking about last game. Then I checked out the boxscore for today. Unbelievable. Bryant didn't even start today, they rested him for some shoulder soreness. So what's he do? He pinch hits and blasts a 2R HR.

That wasn't good enough, he hit another solo shot his next AB. WTF? 2-2 with 3 HR's and 3 RBI's and a walk!!! Anyone that's not getting excited about this kid is a cadaver!

Check out his stats so far:

Also seems like the Cubs heard Maddon the other day. They've put up some wins since Maddon called them out for lousy fundamental play. Hendricks also going 5 innings today and putting up a good statline (didn't see the game myself).

Kyle Hendricks (W,1-0) 5.00000300.00

Hendricks was extremely sharp today. Located pitches, used both sides of the plate. 54 pitches -- 40 strikes. People need to stop worrying about the radar gun, this guy can pitch.

I agree. The kid's got a little bit of Maddox in him.

We can only hope man, lol. I'd settle for Mark Buehrle. I can appreciate a guy who's economical with his pitches, makes quality decisions and isn't afraid to make batters put the ball in play.

I was saying this after the 1st couple times I saw him pitch. I don't care what anyone says, he reminds me of Maddux, even when it comes to his hitting. The guy knows how to paint the corners just like Maddux did.

He just throws strikes. Heck, even Suttcliff said he reminds him of Maddux. The guy keeps winning. Him and Montero could be dangerous together, imo. Can't wait to see more, myself.

We addressed this already. Hayward that is...no need to repeat

Bryant isn't getting less money by sitting nine games. He either can play and will be paid or he can't and won't. I'd say there is little chance that he plays well and goes year by year as history of not only Boras but the Cubs shows that is simply not true

What?

Only Theo can do no wrong followers believe that

Only mindless cubbie fan sycophants believe that Theo is right in having Bryant start in AAA.

You know, like Buster Olney, Jesse Rogers, Jayson Starks

What's the $ perk to starting him at AAA? I'm clueless to this.
