How many TORs do you know of have his velocity? What was the average velocity in the league when Maddux was in his prime? Answer: Much less. Would Maddux be a TOR today? The zone called is different. I've had ups and downs with Beer Pride, but what Bear Pride is saying isn't that Hendricks is "the next" Maddux. The point is the kid doesn't have big velocity, but pitches smart and hits his spots. That's the comparison. It isn't a numbers thing and it isn't a prediction on a career. I'm a libertarian on this kind of thing. It isn't harming anyone that Hendricks reminds Bear Pride and others of Maddux.

Did his era keep getting lower when I mentioned his incident last fall? Not at all. It hasn't been mentioned by myself and more importantly Bear Pride.
