FIFTEEN years is suffering??

Then I am past "three times suffering"!!

It doesnt matter how long you suffered. Its all the same for every true Cubs fan. Since they have loved this team. They have not won it.

Really enjoyed watching Matt Szczur so far this spring. His base running and defense would be great late-inning assets. Love to see him get a 4th/5th outfielder spot.

And that stupid loser Kris Bryant. I hope they keep him in AAA......

Yeah, I like Szczur too. I'm glad to see that Maddon really emphasizes base running as well. This is music to my ears. Hopefully, he can get Castro to actually learn some base running fundamentals for a change. Castro has pissed me off to no end with his base running.

And yeah, that Bryant guy sucks. :yep:

Cubs 4, Royals 3

Final
123456789RHE
Kansas City (11-4)
000001011380
Chicago (6-9)

00101110x482

And the Cubs get another win over a pretty hot KC team in ST. They've really turned it around a little ever since Maddon blasted them for fundamentals. Also nice to see Hammel get the win and look pretty good in 4 innings after a couple lousy starts.

Hendricks .125 in 7 IP 0 BB issued
Arrieta .217 in 6 IP. 3 BB issued.
Jackson .250 in 5 IP 2 BB
Wood .263 in 10 IP 1 BB
Hammel .289 in 9 IP 3 BB
Lester .333 in 8.1 IP 1 BB

Hammel needed that quality start. Jackson needs to put up 5 IP of quality work if he is going to get past Wood. I'm expecting him to be the long man in the pen with Turner on the DL though.

I think Wada will start on the DL as well. I'm wondering if Doubront will be released? Wood looks to have won the 5th starters job, Wada will be on teh team at some point you would think that makes Doubront expendable and he has no options left. Wouldn't make me sad. I'm really not certain why Theo and Jed were so high on him.

From what I remember last season, Szczur needs to change his barrel path. His barrel isn't on plane long enough.

Well, if Maddon is going to get on anyone. He needs to give a Coughlan a little piece. Its spring training, but he is a vet. He struck out. Ball got away. When he finally ran, he leisurely jogged to first and was out when he easily could have beat it. The ball went all the way to the brick, bounced pass the catcher, and the pitcher picked it up by the third base line and threw him out. Its spring training, but thats not something you want the young kids to see. You are a vet that isnt even a full time starter.

He didn't want to get injured/pull a hammy. It's Spring Training. I'm sure brett05 would agree.

Remember, Maddon is only human. This might be too much to ask.

It was very bad looking. That's why I said spring training but when the young guys make you look bad with hustle. You better step your game up

Law apparently picked Turner as a breakout candidate. It's insider so can't give more info but saw this on cubs den with the following quote

Law also has a list of breakout candidates for 2015 and among them is Jacob Turner, whom he says has changed his arm slot and is hitting 96 mph again. The arm slot change may have contributed to his forearm soreness as his arm adjusts to the new slot.

I loved the pickup last year and Bosio is a top pitching coach. If he can't get a guy to perform that guy might be done as an MLB Player.

The velocity is key for this kid. If changing his arm slot picked up 3-4 MPH in velocity that's huge. The injury might have been a blessing in disguise. He can open up on the DL and get ready in on a rehab stint. I'm pretty sure he was out of options.
