Was glancing over the playoff odds on fangraphs to try and get a grasp of who might sell. Here's the teams with more than a 20% chance of the playoffs based off fangraphs projections.

AL
Red Sox, Indians, Rangers, O's, M's, Blue Jays, Tigers and Astros

NL
Cubs, Nats, Giants, Mets, Dodgers, Cards and Pirates

That means the following teams in theory should be sellers
Yanks, White Sox, Rays, Royals, A's, Angels, Twins, Marlins, Rockies, D-backs, Brewers, Phillies, Padres, Braves and Reds

I might quibble with a few of those. Yanks, White Sox and Marlins are just under 20% odds. That being said, it is pretty striking in the NL. So many teams have almost no chance.

So Joel Sherman in NY Post says Cubs wouldn't trade Schwarber for Andrew Miller. I wouldn't either. I texted a former GM. His response: NFW

Source: Early names being discussed in Chapman to Cubs deal are Baez, Warren and a prospect.

Chapman rumors out there are completely false. Cubs are busy scouting arms, particularly relief, but haven't engaged in talks for Chapman

That makes me feel better. No way am I giving up Baez for half a year rental and was already hit for domestic abuse.

My favorite teams
  1. Chicago Cubs
  1. Chicago Bulls
  1. Chicago Bears
  1. Illinois Fighting Illini
They will bring up Concepćion before trading any MLB talent away. Yankee reporters must be dim bulbs.

I like the ridiculousness of the internet some times. When the Yankees dealt for Chapman they gave up Eric Jagielo, Rookie Davis, Tony Renda, and Caleb Cotham. Davis is #12 in cincy's system with a 50 overall grade. Jagielo is #14 with a 45 grade. The other two are either past prospect status or not good enough to rank in their top 30. Fast forward a bit to now and apparently random people on the internet think the cubs are going to give up Baez who was a 60 grade prospect and is MLB ready, Warren who's not really a prospect anymore but probably would be 50ish grade and another prospect for Chapman who arguably is less valuable now than he was at the time of that trade given he's closer to FA. Granted he did have the potential suspension looming and that was buying low at the time but that's a serious gap we're talking about in terms of value. If Cincy were to offer those 4 prospects for Baez alone right now that deal doesn't get done.

That also ignores the fact relievers aren't worth that much usually. If we look last year at a similar trade, Papelbon was deal to the Nats for Nick Pivetta who's a 45 grade prospect and is the 18th best prospect in the phillies system right now. Long story short, gotta love this time of year.

I mean, I dont like speculating when a guy is cheating the system. But, how is Ortiz hitting like he is hitting? Pitchers are throwing harder than ever and you are crushing still? You havent lost any ability? I know he is just a DH but its not like he wasnt on the gas before even though he somehow got away with that with little fuss. I dont know. Dude has a ridiculous wRC+ of 197. It trumps anyone in both leagues.

I haven't really been following him. Is he still hitting for power? I know Edgar Martinez ad a DH raked for seemingly ever but I do think power usually falls off pretty hard.

Rockies DFA Jose Reyes. You'd have to figure that the Mets will be all over that. They might have to give something up to stay ahead of someone else but probably not much. Reyes was popular in NY and they easily slide Carbrera to 3B and put Reyes at SS.

Red Sox put Rusney Castillo on outright waivers. Talk about ouch on that signing.

That is crazy. Must be harsh to be in that mess right now.

No one is going to claim him. It was to get him off the 40 man.

He is owed in the upper 50 mil. That is going to make teams think twice on risk signings from now on
