Stats so far for the curious. I believe this is still missing last night's game. We're almost halfway through the season already believe it or not

-Zach's heater lately helping his overall stats, his shooting percentages are as good as they've ever been
-Vuc's shot has been off lately, but despite that he's still shooting 43% from 3. By far the best shooting year of his life
-Lonzo's plus minus is hilarious, especially compared to tank commander PWill, who in contrast to almost everyone else on the team, is probably having the worst season of his life. Lonzo imo is the team's best defender, not just because of the steals numbers, but when you want him on the court you can see his IQ at work and physically he looks pretty good for a man with a new knee.
-Matas is leading the team in total blocks (total stats not shown here, but he has 30 as of the Wizards game probably) in 13 mpg hopefully spells some good things for his future. Would be nice if he could get more minutes.

yeah, ZL is avg like 31 PPG in the 6 games in january so far. hes done everything he can to improve that trade value

if only the bulls could have put a competent roster around him(along with Lonzo staying healthy), what could have been...

Lonzo's health really could've changed a lot of narratives about this team

Now at the halfway mark of the season, here's the stats

Imo the vets the Bulls should be trying to trade (ie Lavine, Vucevic, Ball, Craig) have done a solid job of showing decent trade value, especially compared to the last couple years. I wouldn't trust AKME to actually execute a worthwhile trade though, of course. Vuc to the Warriors is a trade that seems realistic enough to me, but again not trusting AKME to execute. Phoenix might be a sleeper trade partner also. Both of those teams are strapped by the apron rules though, so makes trades that much harder by design.

Bulls currently have the 9th pick in the draft and sit 10th in the conference. It'd be nice if Philly could get it together enough to take over that 10 spot to spare us of another play in game. The nice part about being in the 9 spot for the draft is that it's a little harder to get jumped and lose the pick compared to 10. Bulls are 2 games ahead of Philly and 4 games ahead of Brooklyn, so moving up in the draft would still take some doing on both sides. Not that it really means anything, but in my sims on tankathon, there's more outcomes where the Bulls jump into the top 4 than where 2 teams jump the Bulls and cause them to fall to 11.

I think I read that the Bulls need to be in the bottom 6 to give themselves the best odds possible.

grizzlies would make a good trade partner for the bulls, too

a swap of Vuc for marcus smart's expiring contract and a draft pick makes sense for both sides IMO

or if the grizz prefer another guard, they could always do lavine for smart, kennard, and konchar. smart and kennard are expiring. maybe grizz throw a draft pick in for taking konchars contract off their hands

edit - it also looks like the bulls have some massive trade exceptions to play with

Not bad options really, just a matter of if the Grizz would actually want Vuc given they have a relatively deep frontcourt already imo. But I'm all for it as an option

they have a deep frontcourt but not at the center position.

they have been playing Jaren Jackson at the 5 a lot, which is not ideal. he is much more effective at the 4 where he gets to roam the court more defensively. its why they loved playing steven adams at center with Jaren at the 4 when they had adams.

all of their front court players are undersized at the 5 other than Edey, and Vuc is a significant upgrade over Edey

Smart isnt needed on the roster when Ja is healthy and Smart has missed a lot of time anyways. Plus, the emergence of Scottie Pippen Jr has made Smart an older more expensive option

Isn't Aldama like 7' also? And that Jay Huff guy also

But Vuc would be an upgrade at the 5 regardless, which if they want to play JJJ at the 4 then it does make a lot of sense

Aldama has the height, but his style of play is not fitted for the paint really. same with Huff

huff per 36 min is averaging 9.5 three point attempts and aldama avg 6.3 attempts per 36 min

for reference, ZL avg 7.6 per 36 min

granted, Vuc is avg 5.2 per 36 min, but we all know he does play in the paint a good bit as well. Vuc is also a much better rebounder than those 2. and none of the 3 of those guys are good defensively, so no drop off there really
