"Clubhouse guy". Then keep him in the clubhouse, because he sucks at the plate, on the bases and in the field.

That is why I said #3. Brujan has barely played and Lopez is a worse hitter than Turner.

If Happ goes down and I want to be aggressive

PCA CF
Tucker RF
Suzuki LF
Busch 1B
Kelly DH/C
Horner 2B
Amaya/Ballestros C and DH as needed
Swanson SS
Shaw 3B

Bench
Berti UI
Turner 1B
Alcantara OF

When Happ returns then you start weighing Turner vs the other kids as playing time gets cut again.

Results also matter. You are getting plus from Ballestros then Amaya starts to become less and less needed.

Perfect world Ballestros and Kelly play full time between catcher and DH. Amaya is just a injury sub or late inning D for Ballestros.

Happ going down sucks. But it is the easiest replacement with the current depth

3B has been the sore spot. I am guessing that they want to get around 100 PA in Iowa for Shaw. I am not a huge fan of his but at this point you want talent on the field.

Really want to see Keller, Palencia and Hodge as the main 7-9. Those 3 can bring it.

Pomeranz has also stepped up.

LF Ian Happ
Injury: Oblique discomfort
Expected return: Day to day
Status: Hit in the cage but remained out of the lineup for a second straight game on May 11 after experiencing oblique discomfort on a swing in his first at-bat against the Mets on May 9. (updated May 11)

Ballestros would be a easy fix. Give him a week at DH and boot Brujan. Give Happ to the hot tub and P.T.

Lack of O. Made Canning look like an ace.

Schedule is soft til June 6th By then Shota should be back.

Rough patch. Unstable O is the largest issue going on. I think it is time to recall a player or 3 from Iowa.

Agree.
Sit Berti down and let the kids learn on the job, They will benefit from it in the long run. Just look at PCA before and now..

Like I said cut Brujan and bring up Ballestros. If they feel Shaw is ready then cut Lopez also.

But you are right. The comp is soft for a month so it is the right time to get them playing.

Suzuki is a bit rough in LF. But LF is a good place to hide a avg glove that hits.

I would not rush Happ.

Day 3 no Happ. Time to DFA Brujan and promote Ballestros. Cubs need to mow down these clown teams and that takes O.

At least it is Amaya and Kelly. No catcher in case Amaya gets injured puts the pitcher in the line up. Jed needs to make this move

If I had to rank the starters

Boyd 2.78 ERA
Rea 2.48 ERA

On a play off roster this is you game 3 and 4 starters. They are pretty close right now. Boyd strikes out more and Rea keeps guys off base better.

Shota has been better. I feel they are missing Steele here as a TOR.

So if Brown or Horton tap into their potential over the next few weeks this might end up in house.

Horton only threw one change in his game. It got a sword from Soto. That is a pitch that he needs to add more in his next game. His fast ball has a cut and he has a drop slider. That pitch moves the other direction and can be a nice weapon.

Brown has a change but it is not remarkable.

I can see Brown in the pen when Shota returns. Pen needs a pitcher like him anyways
