Yankees lead by a wide margin. 26 players. Cubs only 2. So I kinda get that the fan base has little respect of it. Not part of the culture as a Cub fan to watch the whole career of a player. It is more so high point and then GTFO loser.

lmao the last ones for the yankees were jeter, rivera, williams, and posada. none since

the game has changed, guys dont stay with 1 team for their career much anymore

but since you are bringing it up, Ian Happ has spent all 9 seasons as a cub and Kyle Hendricks spent his first 11 seasons as a cub before going to the angels this year

Did someone really advocate for still having Rizzo, Bryant, and Javy on this team right now? Yikes.
And just to be able to say the cubs have more guys that played their entire careers as a cub, no less!

Why Pressly is closing? I certainly would like to hear Counsel explain this one..

Because the highest leverage inning is not limited to the 9th. When it becomes broken then worry

It would be hard to believe if we weren't accustomed to his posts.
Hindsight is 20/20.

But all I was saying is it would be nice if the Cubs tied up a player over their career. High and low points

Sure the Cubs have not drafted a superstar since Bryant. But it would be nice to see a 'player' to become a star and play 15-20 on the north side and retire and go into the hall as a career Cub.

Might be Shaw or Steele. Caissie would also be nice

I just don't like watching players go off because of cash reasons. Like Maddux and become a Hall of Fame pitcher playing for a team willing to invest into their own players.

So that is my issue with the Cubs in general. Lack of loyalty. And Tom is snake bit by Heywards deal.

TBH it is a bit baffling why he promoted Jed at that time. After paying for 2 crappy signings that Jed inked. Guess he was scrambling after Theo left and did not have a better option.

I will say. This team so far has had a patient approach to the plate. Been fun to watch so far this season. Bullpen makes each game an adventure. If the bats and starting pitching stay consistent this team can win this division.

Who was the 2nd crappy signing? Lester?

Worst trade was with Col. Tossed away a all star for trash.

Worst draft pick: Almora has to be that guy. Wasted a #6 pick and Max Fried went #7

Best trade. Has to be for Arreta. You could argue for Rizzo also. Neither is wrong just preferred player.

Best F/A signing: Lester. Darvish close #2.

Best draft pick Bryant. Schwarber most likely beats KB's career line.

Worst DFA. Schwarber and even Jed regrets that one.

I certainly don't like hoyer. But we are only counting Heyward contract and Jackson's from 2013 while they were still tanking but we are ignoring Lester?
Lester was a franchise path direction signing. That move signaled that the rebuild was over.

That deal was the best signing that Jed pulled off.

You really have to look at deals like that as franchise changers. Darvish, Heyward, Bellinger, Swanson. Trading for Tucker.

These are deals made with impact intent. Either to put asses into the seats or make a play off push

Jed took over in 2012. EJax was a knee jerk move after they lost on Sanchez to Det. The deal sucked and so did EJax. Prior to it Almora was a poor signing. They loved his make up but he was a singles hitter with poor OBA skills. That is not a core hitter and that is not what you take at pick #6

Bryant was when you got a feeling that the Theo train was not a wreck 100%
